BALROG's BOX OF DELIGHTS (Zenobi Software) Spectrum 48K/128K+2 A stirring compilation of THREE entertaining adventure-games, each with its own distinctive style and each providing more than their fair share of "problems", "puzzles" and at times, "laughter". ARNOLD THE ADVENTURER by Scott Denyer The story so far ... "Arnold was sitting down watching his favourite T.V. programme, "Floyd On The Floor", when there was a knock at the door. Arnold got up and answered it, and found it to be his old friend Winthorpe the Wizard, who vas in a bit of a state. It seemed that the source of his magic, the powerful crystal known as the "Crystal of Conrad", had been stolen by an evil sorcerer known only as ... The Schwartze!!!! This evil being would use the crystal to dispose of Winthorpe, thus having no opposition in his bid to convert the land and its people to his evil ways. Arabia knew his task and what had to be done ... he must set forth immediately and retrieve the fabled "Crystal of Conrad" from the vile clutches of ... The Schwartze!!!!! TEACHER TROUBLE by Anthony Collins Believe it or not, but on the very day that Ernie chose to employ the old wheeze of "Sickness and Diarrhoea" to wangle the day off school, a band of Aliens also decided to invade Earth!!! So Ernie was not around to witness their arrival at Wenton Comprehensive, or to see the valiant struggle put up by the "Gang of Five", a band of brave and totally naff teachers, who fought the Aliens in the corridors of Wenton. But true to form, they were defeated and their places taken by alien substitutes. Upon his return to school Ernie noticed a slight change in the attitude of the headmaster and the other members of staff, and as his suspicions grew he decided to do a spot of investigating. Aided, if that is the correct word to use in this case, only by his close friend Dillon, Ernie must discover where the real members of staff are being held captive and release then from their alien bondage. In the process he must also capture or destroy as many of the Aliens as possible. THE BOYD FILE by Alex Williams A gripping and intriguing tale, full of "mobster", "black sedans" and "gorgeous dames", this is a good quality detective story featuring --- LUTHOR BAILEY (Private Eye). Of late business had been, to say the least, slow, and the thought of joining the ranks of the "extras" down at the nearby film-studio was something that had been figuring pretty prominently in Luthor's mind. However all that was to change, though perhaps the film-studio would still feature somewhere, when he was presented with his latest case. Known simply as the "BOYD" file, it would lead Luthor into many dangerous situations and down many a "dark alleyway" before he would crack it ... if he could!!!
