THE STORY SO FAR...

The Year is 3050 A.D.,
The Planet is Alfa-Ren,
The Race is Human!

Earth is no more than a dead desolate rock floating in 
space. Just before the war between the Super Powers in 2039, a
number of people were sent to the distant planet of Alfa-Ren.
Among these people were Scientists, Doctors and all people
needed for Human Life to survive. The big mistake in the
selection of the chosen few was to include Professor Deemus who
is extremely clever, but turns out to be an evil megalomaniac,
determined to rule Alfa-Ren or destroy it.
No one has taken any notice of threats made by The Power-crazed
Professor. The Governing Federation has already laughed off the
ludicrous antics of the insane Professor.
However his thread to destroy the planet has proved to be only
too real!
He has exploded a massive bomb - the time is YESTERDAY ... half
the planet has been destroyed and the other half is doomed to
perish horribly of radiation.
But there is hope; this very moment Professor Ferric has
nearly completed his prototype TIME MACHINE.
WILL IT WORK? It must, it's the only hope of salvation of the
last of the human race.
Professor Ferric plans to travel back in time before the insane
Deemus caused the catastrophic devastation on Alfa-Ren and to
find him , but most of all to destroy THE DOOMSDAY PAPERS.

THE DOOMSDAY PAPERS are the work of some of the top Scientists,
kidnapped by professor Deemus. He forced them to design a bomb,
the most powerful bomb ever to exist. They had no choice, their
lives were at stake.
Ferric, who like so many others was powerless to stop him; the
destruction of the Southern Hemisphere was accompanied by the
disappearance of Deemus.

Professor Ferric must succeed in finding THE DOOMSDAY PAPERS.

I am Prof.Ferric's apprentice. He has given me strict orders:
"When I leave wait for one whole day. If I do not return, YOU
must find THE DOOMSDAY PAPERS."

DAY 1
Professor Ferric set off on his mission.

DAY 2
Professor Ferric returned. He has located the area where he
thinks the mad Professor Deemus is building the bomb. He has set
the coordinates on the TIME MACHINE and embarks on his race
against time.

DAY 3
Professor Ferric fails to return.

DAY 4
Radiation levels increase. Great loss of life. Still no sign of
the Professor.
I MUST CARRY OUT THE PROFESSOR'S INSTRUCTIONS TO FIND THE
DOOMSDAY PAPERS AND, I PRAY, THE PROFESSOR HIMSELF - BEFORE IT IS
TOO LATE!

HOW TO PLAY

'THE DOOMSDAY PAPERS' is a graphic adventure where you must
give commands to Professor Ferric's apprentice.
You must use most normal adventure commands E.G. GO NORTH (N for
short), GET, DROP, WEAR, REMOVE AND MANY MORE! (after typing in
each command , press ENTER).
If you wish to SAVE your progress to TAPE at any point type the
word: SAVE and press ENTER.
To LOAD a saved position type: LOAD and press ENTER. You can
also Store your progress without using the tape recorder by
using the command:RAM SAVE. To LOAD a RAM SAVED position use the
command:RAM LOAD. Please remember to SAVE to TAPE before turning
your computer off,if you wish to continue a SAVED position at a
later date.
To find how well you are progressing type: SCORE then press
ENTER. Your SCORE is out of 100%.
To find out how many TURNS you have taken, use:TURN.
To see what you have with you, type:INVENTORY (I for short).
You find many problems on your quest. With a little thought,
you should be able to save Alfa-Ren!
