PANZADROME GETTING STARTED Place the cassette in you cassette player with the volume set at about 7. Type LOAD"" and hit ENTER. After about 30 seconds you'll see the loading screen. When the border stops flashing, hit any key and select the option required making sure that your joystick is in the right port, if you're using one. The next screen shows the blueprint for your tank which takes a few seconds to build. When you see the red 'activated' prompt at the bottom of the screen hit any key. You are now ready to face the terrors of the Panzadrome. You'll notice several things about the screen. On the left is the mine scanner. This shows any mines in your path. Next to the mine scanner are four status windows indicating the number of mortars you have (you start with none, incidentally - like most other desirable features on a tank they can be found somewhere else on the island), your armour screens, fuel status and the number of mines you have. The six windows to the right show the damage taken by your turret, mine layer, polycrete module, wheels, mortar and scanner. Green means you're OK, magenta means things are looking sticky, red means one more hit and you lose that feature and black means Aaargh. In order to repair your tank and pick up extra bits just drop in to your nearest factory. Mortars are fired by hitting M and then ranging by using the fire button. Polycrete fills in craters and repairs damage to the landscape. Hit P and then fire. Mines are laid by hitting L. The next enemy unit to pass over the mine will blow up. Control keys for the rubberthumb and Spectrum + are CAPS LOCK (Rotate Left) Z (Rotate Right) X (Back) C (Forward and V (Fire). Q takes you back to the opening screen. Use it when you're stuck.
