Higgs boson in the LHC ====================== A 1K game for the 48K ZX Spectrum, by Deanysoft 2011 Scenario ======== It's alright those boffins down at CERN trying to prove the existence of the Higgs boson but what if you ARE the Higgs boson and you'd rather stay hidden thank you very much! Well, you've managed to avoid discovery for years at Fermilab (wimps!) but now there's trouble in the shape of the Large Hadron Collider. So... the clock is ticking, they're injecting protons, turning up the power and it's only a matter of time before the theory becomes reality and another bunch of Nobel prizes are handed out. However, you can at least delay the inevitable. After all, a couple of minutes seems like a billion years to a boson. The Game ======== In this game you play the Higgs boson who is attempting to delay his discovery by firing neutrinos at the protons to zap them before they collide. If protons collide, they annihilate and the experiment to prove your existence progresses in the shape of a red bar. When the bar reaches the opposite side of the screen, the experiment (and the game) is over and the Higgs boson is no longer theoretical! Good luck! Controls ======== Q - Move up A - Move down O - Fire left P - Fire right "Who gives a stuff about the Standard Model anyway?" - Hb Loading Instructions ==================== Most Spectrum emulators can use the .TAP format. Select the BOSON.TAP file from your emulator (some allow 'drag and drop') and then:- on a 48K Machine, do: LOAD "" or on an original ZX 128: press ENTER to select the 'tape loader' option from the menu The TAP file should load and run automatically. (NB. not compatible with a +3 machine)
