POGO - OCEAN SOFTWARE LTD Bounce Pogo around the steps to complete the painting game. 16 levels of difficulty and fantastic graphics give a new dimension to the Spectrum. Made in the U.K. JOYSTICK COMPATIBLE LOADING Position the cassette in your tape recorder with the printed side upwards and make sure that it is rewound to the beginning. Ensure that the connection lead goes from the EAR socket on the recorder to the EAR socket on the Spectrum and that the MIC socket is disconnected. Type LOAD "" (note there is no space between the two quotes); the " is obtained by pressing SYMBOL SHIFT and P key simultaneously. For further instructions consult the section on loading in your manual. Now press PLAY on the recorder. The screen message should appear and the game will load automatically. If it does not happen try adjusting the volume and tone controls until loading takes place. At the end of the loading process follows the screen instructions. PLAYING Pogo has landed on the Planet of [Steps] and must keep alive by painting all the levels on which he can jump. Unfortunately he has been pursued from his birthplace by his enemies who are out to stop him. The glass ball will try to crush him as it chinks down the steps and the scorpion will sting poor Pogo if he gets too close. His worst enemy however is Hiss the wily snake, intelligent in its movement and deadly. Pogo can make good his escape by enticing the snake to the side of the steps and then leaping off on to the rotating transporter while the snake falls to its slithery end. The transporter will carry Pogo to the top to begin his painting again. When all the steps are coloured bonus points are earned and a more difficult level appears. Good Luck! STATUS AND SCORING On screen scoring shows current score, Hi-score, number of lives (4), level attained and the colour to paint. A Hall of Fame is included for the day's top scores and points are awarded as follows:- On the first 4 screens there is one colour to change (25 points) and from screen 5 onwards a second colour (50 points). There are 27 steps to paint in each screen and bonus points are gained as follows: Screen 1 - 4 2000 points Screen 5 - 8 4000 points Screen 9 - 12 6000 points Screen 13 - 16 8000 points CONTROLS Pogo is guided around the playfield using joystick or keyboard.
