Sadly it features rendered graphics rather than hand drawn sprites, but it plays rather well and uses a few ideas from Double Dragon 3.

In case you've missed it in this thread (http://www.worldofspectrum.org/forums/showthread.php?t=38962) I've uploaded 2 games to celebrate our beloved machine's birthday. They are:

BRIAN VS THE BULLIES

This is a game that I wrote a while back using Jonathan Cauldwell's excellent Platform Game Designer. I actually wrote this for the Cronosoft Cassette 50 that chaosmongers announced a few years back (is that still going ahead?). It's a Jet Set Willy style game where you play as Brian, a schoolboy who's had all of his Speccy games nicked by the bullies and scattered around the school.

It's a very short game, and does have collision detection issues (yes I am well aware of that!), but nevertheless for my first (and only) game made using the designer, I don't think it's too bad. Just don't expect anything amazing from it. That's just my opinion though, so download it today, give it a whirl and see what you think! It needs 48k minimum.

http://www.filedropper.com/brianvsthebullies

And as for the second game:

BLITZ

This is a conversion of the classic VIC-20 game that my dad wrote in BASIC back in the late 80s/early 90s for my aunty and uncle. A few years back, I decided to give it a bit of an improvement to make it a bit more like the VIC-20 original. Originally, it ran very slowly, and didn't make any sound as the buildings were being built. The sound of the bombs dropping on the buildings just simply went down a note for every hit. Also, when you crashed, it simply just made a very long beep. I've updated it now so that it makes random sounds when generating the buildings (just like in the VIC-20 original), plays the same order of notes as the original when your bombs hit the buildings, and made the screen flash red on and off when you crash. It also runs faster as I compiled it into machine code using HiSoft BASIC I also compressed the game from 8k down to 3k

Blitz will run on all Spectrums, including the 16k machines.

http://www.filedropper.com/blitz

I'll be uploading these to the WOS archive later this evening.

Happy gaming!

http://www.retroworks.es/shop/index_en.html

There are 2 new games for Spectrum which will be presented there:
-JINJ 2
-Majikazo

JINJ2 was released last month, but now you can grab this adventure gameto play in the real machine.
Majikazo will be released there for the first time. Its coming from the MSX. A very nice port, according to those who have had the chance to test it.
To those who go to Madrid, do not hesitate to get to the Retroworks stand and chat, and of course have fun! ;)
For those who are not going, like me :D , we will have to wait for the pictures and videos of the event:

Alas, I have nothing new to release on this special anniversary... But I have decided to release my last work in progress version!

I recommend you use it on emulators that can boost the CPU speed by 3 or 4 times to get the proper speed.

Most of the gameplay is there, except for some of the lines rules, so you don't get awarded lines for any "line-of-sight" situations.

You might noticed that I haven't released anything today for the anniversary, that is mainly because I've been ill. It's controllable for now but I've been mostly bed-ridden for the last couple of days.

During the last couple of days there were some discussions here in WoS about the number of one-button games. So I thought I could make something very simple for the short term.

So here it is: Heart Stealer 1 Key version. The only thing I had time to change was the control method. I wanted to changed the levels as well, but I just didn't had the time. (Perhaps when I get a lot better.)

So here it is, and apologies for the perhaps not so usual quality you'd expect from me.

Hello, as I promised, I am releasing basinc v16r3 with source and other goodies.

(if you are using Windows UAC, make sure basinc.exe has write permissions to it's folder or it won't record anything)

BasincV16R3.zip 3.6MB
This is a CGCware! If you want to use it, you *must* code a game for csscgc2012! ;)

I also uploaded it to WOS, I'm not sure when martijn will make it available.

I will create another thread under "Sinclair Basic" section, where I will collect bug reports and feature requests.
edit: the support thread is there:

The Sinclair ZX Spectrum
The 30th Anniversary Community Celebration Edition

Dear wonderful speccy enthusiasts?.

Its Four weeks until that special day!

That?s right. In four weeks? time our special friend is going to be Thirty years old.
For this auspicious date I would like to propose WE mark it with a one off special celebration edition fanzine.

For one issue let?s get the bloomin? thing off life support and give our dear old Spectrum a birthday card that can be looked back on for years to come that we can all say, yeah, I was part of that. I?m part of the wonderful spectrum community.

With ALL your support we can make this happen.

And I don?t want much from you.

All I want is a little something personal from you.

Ideally ?

Who you are

What the spectrum means to you, personal, happy thoughts about our beloved machine.

If you run a spectrum site, what it is and why you do it.

If you use the spectrum for writing games, demos, music ect? why you still do it.

Or just a simple Happy Birthday message.

Photos, doodles, anything and everything is more than welcome.
Two lines, two pages. It doesn?t matter.

Hand written and scanned would be the ideal, personal touch ( like Retro Gamer?s issue 100 ) or just plain old text.

Let?s forget the squabbles and show the world what the Speccy community can do when we all work together.

I?ll give the next four weeks solid to this, please, Please take five mins to get involved.
It would be great to have everyone opening the PDF on the speccy?s birthday? and there will also be a cost price hard copy from Lulu for anyone who wants it.

If you could send your Speccy birthday wishes to ?

BIFROST* ENGINE with Spectrum 128K support is out!

The BIFROST* ENGINE release 1.1 is finally available, now providing also support for all Spectrum 128 models. You can download it from here:

http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0027405

The original version 1.0 provided support only for 48K machines. In theory, adding Spectrum 128 support would be just a matter of using different delays to compensate timing differences. But in practice, it was much harder to achieve perfect raster beam synchronization, so there would be no flickering regardless of Spectrum model particularities (different timings between Spectrum 48K, Spectrum 128K/+2, and +2A/+3) and their variations (regular and late timings), even when running BASIC programs or delaying interrupts during long (possibly undocumented) Assembly instructions... So this is the reason this new release took so long!

There's a new section specifically about Spectrum 128 machines in the documentation that provides further technical details. If someone was already using the previous version 1.0 in a BASIC or Assembly program, you must be aware that all internal addresses have changed, so you will have to check the documentation and update your program accordingly. However if you were using the interface libraries for either z88dk or Boriel's ZX BASIC, there's no need to change anything in your code, just update the libraries and it will just work!

Also if you have any interest to use this engine in your own programs and think I could help you somehow, just let me know and I will try to assist as much as possible :)
