I have been desperately trying to remember the name of a game that I used to play on my old speccy but cannot remember at all - I can only remember 1 part of the game but I do know I used to love it. The part was this - it was a kind of adventure game and in one section, in order to get a red nosed man to send a raft over to you to cross a small water filled pool, you had to give him a bottle of alcohol collected earlier in the game.

Does anyone know the name of the game? Please help before I go mad! Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi,

Anybody out there remember the game "PSI Chess" by The Edge?

Well, there seems to be no problem finding a snapshot ot tape image for this game - they're all over the place. But: does anyone know how you actually PLAY it? I bought a copy of this game when it was first released, and I seem to remember that the keystrokes you had to use were a little obscure. But, on attempting to play the thing now, it seems that no matter what I try, I can't seem to stumble on what keys are needed to play the game. About the only key that I have found is "I", which toggles you into and out of piece setup mode.

So, my question is twofold:

1) Is there something about the way PSI Chess is written that uses obscure opcodes or something which makes it function improperly in an emulator? (I've tried most of the emulators out there, not to mention every version of the game, including the .tzx)

2) If it is possible to properly run the game in an emulator, then does anybody have a clue how you actually play it?

Here's hoping that somebody out there in Speccy-land can solve this dilemma!

Has anyone tried playing Outrun on an emulator where you can increase the z80 speed? Get the speed right and, apart from the lack of colour (no faulting the level of detail though) it becomes one of the best home computer conversions! A darn sight better than the 'fisher price' c64 version anyway...

Also can anyone solve a riddle for me? Years ago I remember seeing numerous adverts in magazines and I believe previews of Outrun Europa on the speccy, with very impressive-looking screenshots including huge London bus graphics, taxis etc. I always thought that it was then abandoned for some reason and was never released on the speccy, although I have played (or attempted to play) an emulated 'version' of the game which looks totally different, black and white graphics which are generally very poor indeed. So is this the eventual commercial release? Whatever happened to the preview version, which looked very similar to (though better than) the original speccy Outrun?

Hello all..

We at the Tipshop are on the lookout for type-in hacks from the mags. There aren't that many on Tipshop just now because they never OCR all that well (you mean you can't be bothered typing them in by hand? Ed).. Ermmm..

Anyhoo, if you have any typed up, I'd be most obliged if you could bung 'em our way. Preferably stating where they were originally typed from and/or if they've been verified.

I've just written a remake of Splat! from the Spectrum.

It took me 4 hours and 10 minutes to write the whole game from start to finish, so OK, it's not quite my usual quality. It's good for 5 mins of fun before it hits the recycle bin and only 2.5mb download.

You can download it from: http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~thane/banshee
