Might seem like a daft question, but has anyone got any examples of handling TZX files with Perl?

Frankly, it's tedious. Perl is really not a particulary nice language for handling byte strings. I got quite close to having some XS wrappers round libspectrum at one point, but they've probably bitrotted.
