One of my editors/proofreaders has mysteriously vanished from the face of the planet... That slowed things down a bit (as I only have two).
As of right now, it's fifty percent edited...
I have a slot booked at the printers for three weeks (edit: extended to four... the printer had some leeway due to Memorial Day backlog) from now, so it's gonna get done by then, come hell or highwater...
do you have a good record of who has already paid , im not worried but its been a while.
I do... I've kept all the records on my ZX81... I just hope no-one jogs the rampack.
(No seriously, I've got all the records with PayPal, and whenever a new payment gets sent, I immediately print out a packing slip and stick it in a folder. That way, when it's time to ship, I can just go through that folder.)
Hi Andrew,
Please bear in mind that I've already moved house twice since I ordered and paid when you were only thinking of writing the book. If you send it to my former address in Brussels, some other people will be quite happy about it, but not me, actually!
I shall send you a PM with my new address. Thanks!
The reason for the delay is that I'm waiting for the Spectrum conversion of Elite 4 so that I can do a page on it.
Actually, no that's not true...
The real reason for the delay is fairly boring. The book a spare time project, and I only get to do it outside work. A colleague at work had to quit for stress-related reasons and I got fingered as the idiot having to do his job... with no documentation on what he did, as well as my normal duties - meaning 10-14 hour days are par for the course until they find a replacement.

In spite of that, the editing is going very well. I've got absolute super-final-just-need-Nick-to-check-them-over proofs of 1982, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 199x. (Although I need to verify the last four for correct tense usage).
I've now got all the edited documents back, so any delay rests 100% with me...
I've been burned before by saying "I'll be done by next weekend" so I won't say that. But it will be going to the printers real soon now.
(Cue the burnination)

"Good news everyone?
I?ve finished the book. Next up is the editing (2-3 weeks), followed by the printing?
See the website for details. (www.zxgoldenyears.com)
Thanks

I recommend you (and others interested) go to his site and sign up for the announcements.

Andrew
Two chapters left to edit (1 week)
Four chapters to integrate the edits and then read the proofs (2 days)
Three chapters fully ready.
And then off to the printers.
While this is going on, I've got some people lined up to read over the completed chapters to catch any more gotchas...
It's getting to the stage where I'm nit-picking little things - which is bad - so it's time to let it go...
One big push this weekend is planned, and then hopefully off to the printer...
Andrew
That's great.
I take it there's still just enough time to get another pre-order in then?
I always have time for people to send me money :D
You'll be glad to know there's some more on its way then.
