I have this urge to go to Scandinavia next week.

Does anyone here have any recommendations and weather details?

    One of these days, I intend going on a trip around some of the eastern European hotspots - Czech Republic, Slovakia, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and maybe Belarus and Ukraine too.

    First I'll have to get together a small fortune though. :)

    Although I'm now wondering where else I can go next week.

    I want to have a relaxing week off next week at a place which speaks English, where I can have scenic walks on some days, relaxing days on other days, preferably at a hotel with wifi, where it's not raining and where it's not too hot, and I haven't a clue what's out there.

    Suggestions? I really don't want a rainy week off work next week.

    See my post above. I've only seen those places in pictures but they look lovely. :) You could also take a trip over to Kilkenny. There's lots of interesting places to visit and the hotels are really nice and not too expensive (in some cases). Great beer too. :)

    We could even meet up and talk Speccy over a nice cold pint of Guinness.

    It's not cold at all. Check your yahoo weather.

    Depends what you want out of it. Big city adventure or nature. Yes, you can have both.

    If its Norway, then take plenty money, for the cost of things is astronomical. If its Sweden, then away from the big cities, it's in fact cheaper than the UK for a lot of things.

    One thing you will notice is that on average Norway/Swedish girls and boys are of course very good looking. Just get them drunk, they do anything after that, more so than the Brits by a long way. Bit stereotypical of me but...heck its true.

    Try some Snus(mouth tobacco). Try a small systembolget or Vinmonopolets in Norway, the state run alcohol shops for an interesting experience. Try getting invited to a surstromming party in summer.

    I could go on.

    I'll be there in two weeks time.
    I stole it off a space ship.

    I have an urge to go to Finland, after seeing the Eurovision song contest. It seems like a very nice place.

    Saying 'Scandinavia' is a bit like us saying, "I want to see that island off of EU". That could be Scotland, Ireland, UK.....

    So, where in Scandinavia would you like to go?
    Denmark, Norway, Sweden?
    And where in which country?
    Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, or other smaller cities/towns?

    Weather:
    Denmark= Rain+cold
    Sweden=colder
    Norway=coldest

    *grin*

    It's just an urge, nothing more. It feels "different".

    Looks like my budget won't stretch to anything I want at this late stage. I never know where to go on holiday anyway.

    From EGLL to Billund in Denmark for as little as ?3 and 3 hour flight.......
    Or take the ferry from Harwick to Esbjerg and drive on the right hand side of the road until you hit something, then pay ?3000 in insurance and hospital fees.
    Which is cheaper? ;)

    Hmmm, It didn't seem small when I was trying to make the ferry in rush hour volvo worker traffic, in the driving rain, with crap wipers cause the ice and snow had wrecked them over the winter up north, but it was the first rain for 4 months so I never realised until that point, then I missed the turn off, started down to Malmo, then done a U turn across the traffic Kamikazee style. Got lost in the docks, cause I couldn't see out the windows on account of the driving rain and the bad wipers....no it didn't seem small that day.

    All was not lost though, cause I met up with some nice Swedish boys on the ferry and we took the pish out of some Liverpudlians..no offence.
