Reproducton Hardware
Hi,
I have just come into some machinery which should allow me to replicate disk drive cases, cartridge cases, joysticks etc. Basically it's a laser scanner and milling machine. I had the idea of making some cases for DivIDEs, or maybe a new case for a +D interface. If anyone has any ideas please post your comments here. At the moment I'm making some Atari 2600 cartridge cases for a friend. Perhaps the speccy community needs a similar service for replicating parts, cases etc.
Thanks

I've been looking into getting a custom floppy/hard drive rack for inside a +3. The idea being, a custom cage would screw into the original floppy mounting holes but would accomodate a PC standard floppy drive (minus the facia) and a 2.5" hard drive.
Could your equipment do such a thing?
Yes in theory we could make a custom rack for your +3 in fact I need one myself for my +3e. If you have any design ideas I'd love to hear from you.
I have all the designs sketched on paper. Do you know of any design software I could use to draw it on the comp? Or does your equipment use gerbers (if its computer based)?
I have it laid out for a PC floppy drive (minus a facia) to fit in almost exactly the same place as the original 3" drive. Directly under the fd drive a 2.5" hard drive bay is in the rack or a CF-IDE adapter can be mounted. I've used a few common CF adapters to make the dimensions for the rack.
I've also got plans for a facia that fits onto the rack rather than the front of the drive so any standard drive can be used in the machine. Just under the disc slot on the facia are two CF slots, and to right of each slot, an LED to show activity (for CF and HDD m/s).
I need find a plastics company that will make some of the facia's.
*THWAP!!* Shut up, Butt-Head. I think he was talking about like.. computer stuff.. mmheh.. heh-heh.. heh-heh-heh..
Ok, B&B reference aside, that would be pretty cool in my opinion.
