Embarassing tune you really like

edited July 2006 in Chit chat
Is there one song you really really like but its by a band/singer who you are embarassed by ?

Eg you would listen to it on headphones but you would hate your friends/family/work colleagues to hear it if you had it on loud speaker ?

I must admit I own both Spice Girls CDs...

Been ages since I last listened to them though - there are still a few tracks on there which sound good.

he is cool, just like me, as my mum would say.

spice girls are cool. went to see the film at the cinema, but chickened out at the last minute and saw 'muppets space adventure' instead.

Funny what a haircut can do. My sister used to like N-Sync, in that group he looked like a right idiot with a weird scary blondish perm.

Gets a bit of stubble, a haircut and suddenly all the girls love him again.

I know we like the odd embarassing song (Or in Nicks case albums ;) but the music girls used to like on the whole seems very poor.

My sister loved New Kids on the Block, then Bros then Take That. Now shes embarassed as anything, she never threw away those Grolsch bottle tops though !

when i was a kid i used to love vanilla ice. (the artist)

yo, rock a mick like a candle, something something, ice ice baby.

i used to know that off by heart.

Yeah i must admit when that song first came out i really really liked it. One of our mates was obsessed by Vanilla Ice, did his hair 'weird' , wore weird baggie trousers and knew all the dance steps. Was embarassing when he had a few sherbets and that came on the jukebox in a pub.

Funny when they found out 'the bad brotha from the ghetto' was really a rich kid. He now does 'angry' grunge type music. Must have made a mint from those early years though. Wonder if hes still 'rolling in his 5.0'.

My other embarassing song was (ahem)...

    Kriss Kross - Jump

"Ice Ice Baby" was pretty good, IMHO. It was also quite fresh at the time.

He really REALLY should have stayed a one-hit wonder, though.

were kriss cross the guys who couldn't dress themselves (as my dad would say)

i got my hair like vanilla ice at school, a flat top.

what a fucking mistake that was. everybody taunted me that i must be the BF of the punk rock girl in Eastenders.

    never again.

Yeah those were the ones. And before you say it no i didnt wear my clothes like that !

I loved that House of Pain song - Jump Around when that came out. Saw the video a while back and didnt realise they had a shot at the end with a badge saying IRA. Hmmm ! Went off them because of that !

A kid at our school was the best breakdancer when that all came out (Remember Rock Steady Crew ?) , everyone was trying to do it but falling over looking stupid. He was great but went a bit too far and even got a 'breakdancing' perm. The first two weeks he had it (before the perm settled down) he looked like Deirdrie Barlow, looked terrible !

I'm looking forward to the songs Chaosmonger and LeeF put here ! I think theres too many people too shy saying what their crap songs were (Or they could be working what we should be doing !)

Other crap songs i liked yearsssss ago...

    Laura Brannigan - Gloria
    Irene Cara - Flashdance
    Kenny Loggins - Dangerzone

    Taxiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii !

i imagine foggy's school yard embarressing song will be some edith piaf number.

i remember being a tiny kid and my parents having a police album. If only id have asked them to play that instead of my puff the magic dragon record, i might have retained some cool!

phew i was 11, not as embaressing for me.

.....but PSJ you were 17 at the time. :)

The only positive thing about Ice Ice Baby is that it got me into that original Queen song.

Love that song. In Grosse Pointe Blanke its used really well, it'll give you a right 'tingley' feeling when you watch it when Under Pressure starts up in that film, classic !

good songs in that film. :)

How did I get dragged into this?

I listen to all sorts of music, and occasionaly hear songs that most would find embarrasing. Two recent ones I can think of are suga babes - push the button and McFly - It's all about you!

Sad I know, but they are good songs regardless of who sings them.

working from home, I have to keep myself entertained and music is the best way to get motivated. Some days I even put Abba on - it's cheesy but upbeat. Same with Erasure.

Some days, I just want guns n roses. Every day is different. It's weird, some days my music choice depends on which site I am working on.. I did some of cronosofts site last night & put 80's music on. Last week I did some work on a dating site & had loads of cheesy love songs on!

But never, ever JT. Not even I can stoop that low..

    Tragedy - Steps.

I know, I know - but I like the original BeeGees version better.

I even have an album called "Laughter and Tears" in my collection. Packet of Rolo's to the first person to name the Artist, even if I have to post them to some far flung corner of the planet, name the artist and I'll send em! This offer closes 30th July 2006. :)
    Oh bugger!
Neil Sedaka !

Being a good bloke i would rather you give the rolos to a charity. My preferred charity is "Get fat people to lose weight"
  • edited July 2006
how the bloody hell did you get that so quick!

Is it cos you have a copy too :D ?????

Shouldn't that charity be "thin people wanting to be fat"?
    Oh bugger!
