We did FPS's so...

I thought I'd do a poll to see which adventure games people like. I chose The Longest Journey as I've only played it recently and it's absolutely brilliant.

Happy voting.

Monkey Island (well, 1 and 2 anyway - I haven't played the other 2 yet).

WHAT NOW? > Say to Thorin "Open Window"

    Thorin opens the window.

WHAT NOW? > Say to Thorin "Carry Me and Go Through Window"

Thorin says "No way, you overweight bastard."

Thorin sits down and starts singing about gold.

    WHAT NOW? > Hit Thorin

With one hit, Thorin kills you.

    ** Game Over **

I've played most of the games on the list, but I don't think you can beat the best of the old text adventures for atmosphere. Level 9's Silicon Dream Trilogy, Magnetic Scrolls' Guild of Thieves and Infocom's Planetfall are still the definitive adventure games for me.

I'm surprised that the Zelda and Final Fantasy series (albeit preferably minus the tedious combat system in the latter) don't make the list though as they're the ones that have grabbed me most from the graphical adventure era.

Monkey Island. I'd love to be able to say Discworld, as I've always loved the books, but I've never really played them - only a demo of the first game if I remember correctly.

    no Magic Knight series?

guess it'll have ot be Monkey Island then :)

i suppose Beneath a Steel Sky CD32 would be pretty close after that

I think was thinking of doing an adventure poll the other day! Cheers Necros, saved me the bother of figuring it out!

Broken Sword for me, but only just above Monkey Island. MI4 spoilt the series I thought, although BS3 isn't particularly great. Have there been any point and click adventures that have made a good transition to 3D?

I only ha 10 spaces to choose titles or series so I picked ones that I've already played. You can choose 'Other' and mention which one you like in a post.

But that was obvious, right..... :)

Well, yeah. first couple of monkey island games.

    Discworld (loved discworld noir)
    Simon the sorceror
    Grim Fandango
I stole it off a space ship.

Ive had a good, long think about this, and I'd say that the Ishar series was my favorite, especially number 2. I'm well into the Might & Magics tho. Spent 3 years just playing the Vampire war sub-plot from M&MVIII.

For 360? point and click stuff, I'd opt for the 2 Dracula games (Ressurection and Last sanctuary. They were fun.) And for the normal point n clicks, it's gotta be Monkey Island.

This is getting me really thirsty for some serious gaming!

Broken sword series for me. Very atmospheric like a BBC1 drama. Even the gameboy version is cool.

Other than that it has to be the Magic Knight games. Stormbringer is the best
    Granny's garden
    And lastly Delphines Future Wars

The winner has to be Simon the Sorcerer for me.

Although Monkey Island is a close second I'm gonna have to vote in the "other" category. Day of the Tentacle was my favourite.

And Grim Fandango is pretty good too.

Has anyone played The Dig? That's a brilliant one too and Robert Patrick (of Terminator 2 and The X-Files) voices the main character.
