Blimey! Mind you, I can't remember the last time I watched ITV when it wasn't a film, football match or (when desperate) a news bulletin. I don't even bother looking up the ITV1/2/3/4 listings half the time.

I could have told them that.
    "Love Island"? Bag o'shite.

That said, Supernatural was good, but that's not been on for months.

I agree. Apart from football, and the very occasional film - I dont bother with it. Saying that, if my girlfriend is out, I dont put the TV on anymore. The programmes on nowadays are crap. Everyday is the same in my house.

Girlfriend puts TV on about 6ish - Watches Hollyoaks, Coronation Street, Eastenders, some crappy DIY or property programme then big brother if its on (failing that, a different property programme) - then its time for bed.

I dont watch much anymore. ITV is by far the poorest channel at the moment.

Ah see, that's where I'm lucky with my GF. She likes sci-fi. If she puts the telly on it's usually something I want to watch anyway.
And she picks me up from the pub.
    Hoorah!

I feel the same way, although BBC2 Comedy has spiced up recently with Supernova and Time Trumpet. Just wish I could catch some of the more interesting BBC3 comedies, like Annually Retentive.

The best thing I've seen on TV in the last few years, was The Mighty Boosh. Can't wait for the new series.

It's good to see original stuff, rather than this reality nonsense that is destroying TV.

X factor started this week... for fuck sake... Why lord ? Why ????

TV is god awful these days....
All I watch is Match of the Day, Lost and occasionally Eastenders but
that has been getting worse and worse.

To be honest i dont mind Love Island ! Find it very funny plus its great to send me to sleep at night !

All the ITV dramas i really cant stand, way too much Corrie and Emmerdale, theyre on so often even the missus who loves Corrie admits the storylines are getting worse and worse as they have to make sure they film so many episodes.

Apart from sport i dont watch much on ITV, i think so many of us dont watch much television as we're all watching dvds or lots of pirated stuff or downloaded stuff from the web ;)

(Roll on Prison Break which starts next week in the US)

Saturday night TV is terrible though. On BBC1 you have some crappy show where theyre looking for the next 'Maria', the ratings for that are very low. X Factor i must 'admit' (ahem) i dont mind the early episodes but when its Sylvia Young stage school where they can all sing later on its boring as hell. Plus its a joke as whoever wins (because of all the girlie votes) releases one or two songs then are dropped like anything.

i thought the 1st ep of prison break sr2 was on tonight?

All soaps should be restricted to being only two half-hour episodes a week.

Unfortunately we all know that their vacated time-slots would be filled with pap.

Take a look at "The ONE Show" - "Nationwide" for the 21st Century, and so much like daytime telly that I wonder why they didn't call it something like "This Evening"...

Yeah sorry fella you are right, even have it marked down on my calender ! I've been stuck in a time warp lately, keep thinking its early August !

If its on tonight should be on the net late Tues probably, damn ! I'm away until Thurs morning, better still be online !!! Looking forward to seeing that. Much better than Brokeback Sopranos which was very disappointing (I'll still see the second half of that when that returns)

As for the soaps i dont know why people get these TV Quick type mags and read everything which is going on in it before they watch it ! Its even worse when you know the storylines ! Bit like watching a film and knowing everytime who will die at the end.

I never ever ever watch ITV news they don't tell you the news just their opinion of the news.

I stick to CH4 news and News 24, prefering CH4 News...

Yeah but ITV news does have the very niicccee Nina Hossain on it. OOhh suits you sir!.

And for the 50 millionth time quincy is being rerun. But it's still good telly.

As for most of everything else it's a pile of shizzle

ITV is total pants. Chav-TV if there ever was such a thing.

I just can't watch drivel like 'LOVE ISLAND, 'I'M A CELEBRITY', 'X-FACTOR' and all these other 'reality' shows, that seem to plague ITV. Talk about dumbed down TV - ITV is for the lowest of the low.

Ironically, I spend more time watching channels like PARAMOUNT COMEDY, which shows old ITV stuff, like George & Mildred, Man about the House, The New Statesman, Bless This House, Mr Bean etc. as well as other non-ITV classics like The Young Ones, South Park, Comic Strip presents...

Also, Numb3rs isn't too bad, and that's an ITV program.

I hate that about the weather forecasts too!

On the whole, ITV is unwatchable for me. I've been watching ITV 3 a bit in the eveninngs.

The programme I've enjoyed the most recently, is the four show seriers by Mark Williams (from the fast show) on Sky One about the history of explosives.

I watch very little of ITV1. I tend to watch UK History on Freeview most, when the girlfriend lets me. I dare say I'll have to be subjected to the new series of X-Factor now that drivle has started off again. God help me. The sad thing is X-Factor will probably rescue their Saturday night ratings.

I was amazed to see ITV had secured the rights to show The Two Ronnies from the BBC, and they go and stick it on ITV3, when no one is awake to watch it.

Channel 5 offers far more thought provoking television than ITV1 these days. And who'd have ever said that when Ch5 started out?
  • edited August 2006
i dont mind channel 5 now, good films on too!

On the whole, having switched back from freeview to NTL's basic package, I am happy with what is on t.v to suit my tastes, but very little of it is on the main 5 terrestial channels.

The one thing that puzzles me, is why certain time slots seem to attract the same dross across the board, cable included.

These days, I do make a point of not turning the t.v on before 6pm

i dont have sky or them free channels and i get by. if there is an hour with nothing on, i switch off and read a book, or have a wank.

i think sky one is a massive rip off. (unless you like repeats of star trek and simpsons.)

I wish the BBC would repeat The Goodies on one of their Freeview channels. Surely it's good BBC3/4 evening fodder? The recent 1.5 hour look-back special was hilarious.

Speaking of which, tonight, BBC1 @ 22:35: Comedy Connections - The Goodies. But we know the story behind the players already.

And Sky *is* a rip-off if you're not interested in new movies or sports. Television has been devalued over the past decade or two.

Ah yes, the theme tune to the pilot episode of "Why Don't You". I can't imagine why they decided to take that line out.

i used to love that show. never did any of the stuff they said though.
