edited September 2006 in Chit chat
Richard Hammond was filming for the latest series of Top Gear.

He was driving a rocket powered car when it left the track and if flipped over.

If he pulls through (and I hope he does), he will get such a ribbing from Jeremy and James about it.

I'll have to admit that my sympathies are somewhat tempered by the fact that it's a bloody stupid thing to do and he was asking for trouble.

Adrenaline junkies usually get what's coming to them sooner or later.

Well for his kids sake I hope he pulls through. After all it's quite rare for an oompa loompa to get a job on the telly.

However it would be a cruel twist if he had been clocked by a mobile gatso camera or the cops found his dragster to have a duff tyre or busted taillight and sent him a fixed penalty notice

    Is this your dragster sonny?
Do you realise you were doing 280 mph
Suppose you think it's a private airfield or something eh sonny
Step out the car please and my colleague will just have a little look round the vehicle.
    Been drinking have we sonny?

I've got to say, I wonder if Top Gear has lost its grip on what's a reasonable risk.

According to Private Eye the production team recently investigated the possibility of having a driving race across Iraq, not exactly a sensible thing to even consider at a time when 3000 people are being murdered every month and foreigners are being kidnapped left right and centre.

By all accounts it was an attempt at the land speed record and not just going fast for the sake of it.

Hope he get's well soon..... he's one of my fav presenters :(

    He's great as a presenter.

Really funny on both Top Gear and Braniacs.

I hope Tipex Teeth pulls through.
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

I think that is very funny, and very affectionate.

I wonder if the non-net users would think that way, if it was published in a tabloid as a minor "shock horror, look what they did" kinda way.
