Finchspeed?!?

I've just been reading about the illustrious history of games house Imagine, and apparently they renamed themselves "Finchspeed" in a desperate bid to avoid bankruptcy.

My question is... why? Why not "Starlingpace" or "Budgievelocity" or something? Does the name mean anything?

If you use an advisor/agency to help set up companies and no one's decided on a name yet, some do the equivalent of throwing lots of words into a hat and picking two or three at random until a combination comes up that is memorable and also hasn't been taken.

It also tends to happen when companies are being liquidated thus allowing the more familiar name to be used in an attempt to save some of the business.
