i loved cavelon when it first came out , saw the review in crash and desperatly wanted it , a mate came round with it and i grabbed a copy , a really good game.
The name sounded familiar but I couldn't remember anything about it. Just fired it up, what fond memories it brings back... And the music was brillant. I spent many hours on it 20 years ago or so. It looks and sounds very modern for a 1984 game!
just giving this one a go now. how do you activate the "excalibur" thing? i read in one of the reviews that it makes you temporarily invincible? the knight's shield doesn't seem to be holding up very well against the arrows :-)
To quote Bruce Forsythe; 'Good game, good game'. For some reason I always feel like Cavelon and Sir Lancelot were in the same series of games.. It may not be known so well also that there was Cavelon II, but it apparently only came out for the C64.
I loved cavelon and managed to complete it without pokes.
I really liked the way the background music only played when you walked.
The c64 version isn't as good and is a bit flawed as the opposing knights never seems to move totally to an edge before turning around making them impossible to shoot in certain circumstances.
I only played it this year for the HARP. Still not bad although playing definitely dated - very picky and unforgiving, soon turning into a memory exercise.
great little game!
though never got through the first level, not once, frustrating as hell - but sooo addictive and nicely executed I couldn't stop coming back to it here and there.
loved the music. like in manic miner I couldn't be bothered by the loop :)
first time saw the other levels after discovering emulators and WoS - and tried the POKEs.... 8-)

A really addictive game, but also very frustrating sometimes.
Bye.
Thanks for letting me remember this classic game!
Cavelon is one of my fave maze games. Simple concept and very addictive. Even the tune is cool! :-)
I didn't know it was a conversion of an arcade game, btw.
I don't really like Cavelon that much, there's nothing fundamentally wrong with the game I just find it a little clunky and unforgiving at times.
