tbh being a long time listener of grindcore im used to short tracks by the likes of napalm death and sore throat lol
I seem to remember my mate buying (think it was Lawnmower Deth) a CD which had 100 tracks plus 50 bonus tracks and the whole album lasted about 40 minutes.
Remember seeing 'Whats the Story Morning Glory' by Oasis on the jukebox back in the day, 2 tracks had the message:
DONT PLAY 53 SECONDS LONG!
I remember someone sticking track 12 of Nirvana's Nevermind on a pub jukebox, they got the song (Something In The Way), then 10 minutes of silence followed by the noisy "hidden" track.
yeah like most (all?) double albums there's some filler, it also has tracks on there which I probably wouldn't like on their own (oh bla di oh bla da, goodnight, yer blues) but in the context of the whole album they kind of work imo
Exactly - it wouldn't be the same album without those songs. Same goes for all the little skits on De La Soul/Beastie Boys albums etc, I think 3 Feet High And Rising would sound a bit "meh" if it was just the hit singles and 6 other tracks.
But yes RWAC is right, Revolver is perfect as it is... all the songs on Revolver are around 2-3 minutes (even Tomorrow Never Knows which I always thought was 7 minutes long). I suppose the difference is people don't know how to write short pop songs these days.

Lawnmower Deth were a very silly band, their songs barely lasted a minute!

yeah a lot of newer stuff (i.e. since about since 2000) by 'proper' bands that I hear does tend to drone on. aka the Coldplay syndrome. there's probably some really good snappy pop bands with catchy songs out there but I don't keep up with that kind of stuff any more
Just got Nirvana's Nevermind Deluxe Edition from Amazon. It's the 2 disc version but for some reason the autorip gives you the 4 disc version to download. I grabbed that just in case Amazon realizes the error :D

Quality over quantity ;)
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

I always used to forget about the hidden track. Then it would scare the **** out of me when it came on!

does than mean you got the 'Devonshire' mixes of Nevermind as well? they are good, more raw and punky sounding than the proper album
I think under 25 mins should be considered an EP, if there has to be a cut off point. although 'mini-albums' used to be a thing. never hear of anyone releasing a mini-album now. more of a 90s trend

Yup, they're disc 3. I've only listened to the first disc so far but I'm looking forward to that disc if it's a more raw sound. I always though it sounded too clean after Bleach.

Just looked them up. That album artwork seems familiar. ;-)
