The old issues of ZXS are being re-done for print. We are currently 75% done with these and anticipate a whole new issue being released in mid-august (but knowing us it will be mid-september lol).

Mid-August has long since passed and mid-september is getting close, but we're still at ish 1.
Any news about Death Pit?

I'd say at this moment in time to just release it and we'll do the reviews anyway. Time is dragging on and I still haven't got a decent print of issue 2 yet. Issue 1 went so well!!!

I've got some annual leave coming up, I'll sort out the vault update then... Not as much content as previous updates, but Death Pit will be among them...

    Can't you ring in sick

Everybody...when Death Pit arrives...make sure you will all load it in "classic", slow way. Turn off all flashloading stuff. Experience it, at least for the first time, as it should be experienced 22 years ago. :)

Any advance about Death Pit? I've been a bit lost

I've emailed the tzx file to Martijn, so hopefully it'll get released soon...

Due to some correspondance I've had recently that's annoyed the hell out of me, I'm not going to be doing any preservation work or tzx vault updates any time soon, hence why the file has been forwarded on.

Hope it was worth the wait.

Just wanted to pitch in and say that I'm always available to continue the preservation work in whatever capacity I can until Steve feels comfortable to return. Just in case people thought not to bother sending stuff in.

    Cheers

It's done (in case you didn't read the What's New page)

Man, that looks so much better than the CPC version! That is to say, not as blocky. I like the minimalist view. The CPC version is a bit too "busy" for my taste.

It's defined as an "unidentifiable backup copy"
If you need more details on its source/genesis, I can provide them.

I'm amazed that they decided the game wasn't "good enough" ... looks like a fully-functional, well made game to me. Could have become a favourite of mine back in the day.

I'm glad though that it finally was allowed to see the light of day.

BTW Go check out this discussion thread about Death Pit, started by Pascal T.

Well for one, I have the scanned inlay and instructions... I'm sure you'll be wanting them for the archive?

As for the tzx, I took the files that Andrew provided and modified the basic loader (which was microdrive specific) so that it would load from tape (well, tzx, really).
Nothing too complicated. The only 'addition' I made was to add code to make the paper and ink black (as the bottom two screen lines were white), and make it so that the BYTES: Deathpit would appear at the very bottom of the screen so it wouldn't overwrite the picture during loading. Purely aesthetic choices that I'm sure would have been done for the final release had it hit the stores.
