Speccy Games Review Site!!

edited March 2007 in Announcements
If you have found (or foul) memories of Spectrum game from yesteryear you can post reviews and screenshots here.

www.catharton.net/electronica

Its actually a discussion site for all platforms and games, but the Speccy section gets a great deal of hits - trouble is people rarely actually say anything.

The site did have a fair few reviews but suffered massive hardware failure at the hosting company, backups that should have been taken by the hosters were mysteriously absent. So we need to get more traffic and personal reviews to fill it back up :)

It can be a one liner or an indepth dissection.

I just put up my review of Gunfright here

Have also put together a pictorial doc on converting a 48K Speccy to composite video out - the neat way. Might be of help to some folk who are not conversant with such matters.

Drop on by! Someone should at least add something about Stonkers!

Nice. I made a copy of the whole webpage for my records. Thanks!

Umm bet that took a long time to download.

You now have an set of nested folders only 1% of them actually have anything in them. This site is trying to attract people to submit their own reviews, there are currently very few on there, mostly written by me (3 in total I think) as the only speccyhead on there.

Grabbing a copy of the virtually empty site isnt really helping anyone.

    Hmmm, let me explain.

You're right in saying that grabbing a copy isn't helping anyone. I'm guilty of not submitting reviews, and I'm not going to give excuses.

But let me explain why I do what I do.

The same way I collect Sinclair material, I save .mht or .png snapshots of spectrum-related webpages. I keep these kind of copies, because they mean a lot to me.

Sometimes sites disappear, and that content is lost forever. I know there are web archives that keep copies of how sites used to look like before they disappeared, but they can't keep track of everything.

I hope this explains my previous post.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

Fair enough - the site is about to undergo somewhat of a metamorphosis actually.

Bernie Clifton is the pantomime ostrich person you are trying to think of in the thread after your review.

An interesting site though. I am considering joining...
