Richard Joseph dies

edited March 2007 in Games
Just saw this on Stuart Campbell's forum. Games musician Richard Joseph has died. He was much, much more famous for his work on the Amiga, but he did a few Speccy bits and pieces in his time by the looks of things.

There's a writeup on Eurogamer as well.

Guess he should be added to the obituary section. :-(

Yep sad news. I posted yesterday on a c64 forum about it.

He really was a quality musician, he never really put in a poor effort.

His work on the amiga(chaos engine, gods, robocod, megalomania, diggers etc)was always top quality.

Sad news. I liked his tunes in stuff like Cauldron or Barbarian.

That damn cancer is taking away quite a few talented chaps ... not long ago, some dutch commode demo musician also died of lung cancer at merely 32. Then, Bob Ross (from The Joy of Painting galore) comes to mind, even though he's not related to computing, it was such a waste.

F*cking cancer, why can't it grab some of the useless chav scum instead?

Sorry for going a bit off-topic and the evil rant bit at the end.

That's really sad news, and quite a shock. I didn't know he'd been ill.

I had the pleasure of meeting Richard (and Jon Hare) at the Retro Ball in Keniworth in 1995.

Our Cronosoft stand and the Sensible Software stand was side by side at the show, so I spent a long time chatting to him throughout the day.

He was a top bloke, really friendly and modest about his achievements. He was really enthusiastic about our Cronosoft stuff, and remember him playing Jonathan Cauldwell's 'ROUGH JUSTICE' game for quite a while.

    He'll be sorely missed.

It's shame that link doesn't work.

    1995? Perhaps you meant 2005?

    Sad indeed...

    His legacy will be me playing Moonstone on the Amiga looking frustratingly at the TV screen as it crashes again displaying;

'The Gods pause for a moment to contemplate your fate'

His fantasticly simple yet effective music blares out as I once again have to do the 3 fingered salute.

    R.I.P.
