Selling My Youth

edited March 2007 in Chit chat
Well i was getting fed up of the space they are taking, besides this is half my collection i still have about 250 singles and four more dj boxes full of albums, does anyone still have their old vinyl and if so do you still play them, i have a blondie album that i scratched and at a certain point it will jump and when i got the album on cd i listened to it and it wasn't quite the same without the jump.

I've still got ALL my vinyl :-D

4 DJ boxes full of LPs and 12" singles, and there's 70+ 7" singles sitting next to them (why oh why does nobody sell the 7" cases anymore?)

I've been quite lucky with mine, I've managed to pick up a few rare things cheap and got loads of other stuff for nothing.

The most expensive thing that I bought was probably either GnR's Don't Cry hologram sleeve or the Welcome to the Jungle 12" poster sleeve. Or the Nightrain 7" shaped picture disc. All of them were about £20-25 each.

The value award was getting David Bowie's Heart's Filthy Lesson Trent Reznor Remix 12" one sided promo only. Only cost me a fiver :-o

Ever since I heard Metallica's Fade to Black on the proper LP I've hated CDs. The end of the CD version you've to listen very carefully to hear the last line. On the vynil you can hear it clearly in the background. I kept all my vinyl after hearing that.

Actually, that's one thing I don't have catalogued - my vinyl. Must get round to that someday.

Oops, forgot to say hope you get a good price for selling your memories :-)

I'd need a pic to make sure. I've got the "remix" 7" (the re-release with the "radio friendly" no guitar solo), the cat number of it is GEF 55. If your number is different to that I'll get it from you :-)

Now to read the rest of the post... :-)

Looks nice, but after a quick count I've only got 156 7"s. I don't think I'd get enough to fill it more than 3 quarters.

The smaller ones would be better, but It'd be a lot more expensive to get them than the big one.

Then again, I wonder when the next record fair is? ;-)

Thanks for the site - got it bookmarked :-)

    --edit--
Oh yeah, I've got a few of the thicker LPs here (can't remember which ones they are though) but they're not the Simply Vinyl collection. Then again, they are probably from a good number of years ago when people knew how to make quality pressings :-D

    Mucho coolness.

I don't think I've got the 12" version of the original single either (and there's loads of stuff sitting on top of the cases...). I'll definitely get that from you.

What's the b-side btw? I remember having a list of all the GnR releases on all the different formats and the b-sides listed on it aswell, but I can't remember what happened to the list. Mind you, it's probably indecipherable handwriting from 15 years ago :-)

I'll need to get my collection lists on the go again, see if I can get all the Wildhearts, nin, GnR, CoF stuff listed that I need.

Pity that, I was hoping it'd be a live cover. Most of the UK singles had live b-sides from their first UK show (which was at the Astoria). I've got them doing an awful cover of Whole Lotta Rosie and Knockin' on Heaven's Door :-D

I'll get the full concert one of those days

Still, it's another single to add to the collection :-)

i take it the record weren't damaged in transit, the post office get a lot of stick but i have never had a problem with em :)

Nope, it's all fine. I haven't had much bother with the PO either, except for somethings going missing, but nothing's ever been broken. And I know what they're like - my dad used to be a postie ;-)

I'm going to have to check my 12" GnR singles though - now that I've got this I'm sure I've got another format of it, or I did actually have this one at one point. But I definitely don't have a GEF 45 7" of it, well didn't, in my collection.

Either that or I'm having deja vu :-D
