Fake Whiplash Claims Agggghhhh!!!

edited April 2007 in Chit chat
I had a bump in my car last week going approximately 5mph in a cue of traffic where the car infront broke rather abruptly and for no reason.

I did no damage to my car what so ever, and there was only a very minor mark on the other car involved.

This week my insurers contact me saying that the other party are claiming whiplash and want compensating. What a 5mph?????

She was fit enhough to get out of the car and exchange details and bend down to inspect the damage on her and my car, oh yes.

It makes me mad, as she is not only frauding my insurance company, she is frauding every honest motor vehicle owner out there who will have to pay more for their insurance do to fraudulant ar*eho*es like this.

I want justace!! :x

a PI could provide some back up to your story.

please note: i mean a proffesional private investigator, not you hiding in her bushes with a camera.

This happened to my wife, she hit someone at about 5mph. Who then put a claim in.

Our insurers would not accept liability and the claim went on for about 3 years. They only settled when my wife was sent a court order which was quite distressing.

The biggest problem was during those 3 years we could not get a competative quote from any other insurance company. i.e. as soon as we said we had an outstanding Personal injury claim, they refused to quote us. Needless to say, our insurance company at the time hoiked up the insurance £150 per year as they knew this. When the claim was over, we halved our premium by shopping around.

Sounds like scare tactics to me, I was injured in a car crash in 2003 when a woman just pulled out in front of me. I had to go see an independant medical practicioner and have a full physical including photographs of my injuries. Then the doctor had to provide a report for the at fault party's insurance and then an out of court settlement was offered. Whole process took approx 2 months, if this happened last week then I think they are just trying to scare you.

It would pay you to involve a private investigator and also let a specialist solicitor handle things for you, that way you will ensure that you don't get a huge hike on your insurance premium.

Even if an accident is not your fault, sneaky beaky insurance companies add a percentage onto your renewal premium.

Also now what I do is I have a couple of webcams hooked up to an old laptop in my car and record my journeys. That way anything happens you have proof.

Thieving lying bastards beware, my car gets more like airwolf everyday

Its terrible when people do this. My brother in law when he was younger went on a mini drunken rampage and was jumping up and down on a teachers car (stupid i know !). His dad agreed to pay for the damage but the other party then made out every single scratch/dent all over the car was down to him and wanted 3 times as much.

His dad was happy to pay for the damage he caused but obviously the other people were taking the mick. Went to court and the judge agreed with his dad so they just paid for the damage he caused

Difficult what to say on this one, shes probably just gone to a crappy 'no win no fee' and can see pound signs. I hope you do win but perhaps get some free legal advice and see what your options are

If theres hardly any damage at all then surely she doesnt have a case, however if you havent got any pictures of it then who knows

Apparently she is handling all this though her insurance company. Who contacted my company to say that is what she intended on doing.

Speaking to my company it looks like they want to try and placate her with a ?600 pound pay off. I really don?t want them to do that I want them to do a full investigation and then fine the bitch for fraud. Although whiplash or no whiplash is really hard to prove.

I have an inspector coming to look at my car so my company can decide what to do. Although, I have a crack in my Reg plate that was done two years ago in a mankey car wash.

Do you think I should get my plate renewed or will I look like I?m trying to hide something?

So I dunno whats going to happen.

Does anyone, anywhere have tangible (photographic) proof of your plate being busted?

If not and if no-one has mentioned it then get it fixed if you feel like it.
