Take 60 seconds to do this:

1. go to www.google.com

2. click on "maps"

3. click on "get directions"

4. type " New York " in the first box (the "start" box)

5. type " London " in the second box (the "end" box)

6. click on "get directions"

7. scroll down to step no; 23

I think that the final detour via France would just be showing off.

Funnily enough, it seems to use that exact same route across the atlantic for just about anywhere in Europe. Try Lisbon instead of London.

Another thing to try is entering postcode 'CB1 2AQ' which is Willis Road, Cambridge. Switch to satellite and you can see the glass-roofed Sinclair building
with a red car in the carpark.
Enter 'SW1AA 2BB' and you can look down on Sir Clive's penthouse in Spring Gardens.

To my utter surprise, I found that Microsoft have outdone google with the aerial photos... At least in the UK :)

Should look familiar, assuming I have the right building!

Typical Microsoft they do not have official consent for any of the maps they are using.

See, that's why I like WOS. You posted that and everyone liked it.

I posted the same thing on some other forum just a few days ago. The first reply? "Old." - Just that one word. Makes you wonder, why do some people have to toss that smug one-word comment instead of just thinking "yeah, I've seen this before, never mind" and simply not post?

Personally, if I see an "old" thing being posted, I just think if it's old for me it can still be new for a lot of people. Quite simple, innit?

As for that link, I think it's quite hilarious to think how that kind of "travel advice" would be even programmed in. Why would you swim, even if it was only a small river? It's not only in the english version, but also in the localized ones.

Maybe people could sue Google for giving advice that's akin to proposing suicide. I mean, if you attempted to swim such a long distance you would most likely die.

Actually it is FlashEarth that doesn't have permission but it is a brilliant link.
Google pics are more up to date but Microsoft are more detailed for me.
I didn't find this one. A guy on the Men Without Hats site did using getmapping Professional but here it is courtesy of Microsoft.
