Much ado about nothing really. He may or may not have rolled his eyes in disrespect, who knows. He probably spends more time thinking about his vast buckets full of cash than what the contestants are saying. Hardly news worthy.

He's probably that used to rolling his eyes and demeaning everyone he comes in contact with (unless they're pretty young girls who cast him a smile or two), he probably did it instinctively.

Do not take this as me defending him, because personally I think he's a bit of a twat (even when he's not being mean to people).

But as mentioned his "buckets of cash" could buy him some friends if he gets lonely.

There's an episode of Louis Theroux from a few years back about publicist Max Clifford. One of Clifford's clients at the time, and the one who is heavily featured in the episode, was a pre-Idol Simon Cowell.

Here's what Cowell asked Clifford to do (and I'm not making this up, it's all there on film): plant stories in the press to make sure everyone knows Cowell is heterosexual.

Now, I don't know whether Cowell is gay or straight, and it doesn't make any difference one way or the other, but isn't it a bit odd to employ a professional to promote the fact that you're straight?

I like Simon Cowell as a judge as he basically tells it how it is, so many of these shows the judges are too nice (also makes the show dull) but if someone is crap then tell them they are and dont say 'well maybe your voice isnt suited for this program' rubbish.

The eyerolling thing does look bad, he often does that when they go on about thanking jesus christ/grandmother after every performance but obviously doing that after someone commenting on the VT shootings is terrible.

As for the whole gay thing i dont mind that hes gay at all, doesnt bother me one bit, and yes if he wants to keep that secret its up to him but when its SOOOO obvious its laughable. Its like when 'H' came out just before Big Brother, everyone was like 'yeah we know and dont really care' like it was going to be huge news.

Some point in the future when perhaps their careers are waning and they need some PR both Cowell and Robbie Williams will eventually 'out' themselves

Specially now that he split up with the songwriter (Guy someone) an album or so ago. Never liked his music anyway but his last album was terrible

I don't tend to watch these kind of tv programmes, but I did like it when that stupid, egotistical contestant said he'd have Simon Cowell deported. Stupid contestent completely overestimating their own worth, and having more hubris than the entire French nation did make me laugh.

However, I'm sure on many of these X-factor type programmes they deliberately choose some no-hopers who will make a complete embarrassment of themselves just to feed the viewer's sense of schadenfraude. I also hate the way these programs concentrate on only one thing: singing, and non-original material at that. I'd rather see them play some instruments and do something original.

Yeah a proper contest which had unsigned bands which write their own stuff etc would be cool, probably a bit too trendy for ITV though.

I must admit i do enjoy watching the early rounds of X Factor etc, nowadays it seems a lot of idiots just go on it to be stupid and to get 15 minutes of fame but when you see some who seriously seriously think they have talent (because their folks might have said so) its embarassing as anything !

As usual whoever wins is just moulded into the usual boyband/boy singer and given cover after cover or dropped the minute they dont sell enough.
