WOS is currently getting a LOT of traffic via Slashdot and BBC Online. Everything's on the same server, and the system was already starting to creak a bit before now.
It looks like WoS is currently experiencing the Slashdot effect.
Congrats on getting on to the Slashdot front page, a feat in itself.
The RZX Archive is hosted by WoS, that's going at snail's pace too :-/ Not that I'm complaining. If it brings more people into the speccy community then that's great!
Hardly surprising, given that April 23rd is not only St. George's but Speccy Day, and this year it's THE Speccy Day -- it was 25 years ago today, Uncle Clive taught the Speccy to play. Or something. :)
