Signature.

My signature seems to get inserted in messages only occasionally (this message has it -- oops, not after I edited it). I think this is a common issue with other people, whose signature I think I saw coming and going.

Is there an obscure reason for that, or is it just a bug?
Not that it makes any difference, I was just curious.

Signatures are inserted from the database into each post if selected - rather than the way some BB's do it which is that your signature is added after each message you post when the page is requested if you set your signature to be visible. If that makes any sense.

It does make sense, it's just weird that sometimes it doesn't show up, when I never change the default setting.... Like in the "I'm #1!" post I have a couple messages, some with signature some without. This sort of non-determinism is not what we speccy users are used to... :) Not that it really matters, anyway, as I said earlier, it was just strange.

It's probably because you're not logged in and you don't have your cookies saved - this isn't a default action.

For example, if you are not logged in and your settings are not saved then the default board style is used. I changed the board style in the 'edit preferences' section and it only applied whilst logged in. However I then made sure the settings were saved in a cookie and now the style I selected is always applied.

You may need to look at these settings.

This is true. Perhaps it happens that the signature checkbox is off by default, and when I write the first message, not being logged in, yet, the signature is not inserted. After the 1st message I'm logged in, and my profile preference applies.

I guess it's all sorted out... Only the 1st message I write in a session is without signature.
