Martijn my old friend, That TZX came from a genuine, proper commercial copy. it's not a back up copy, it was the original review copy given to me by the author. I even have the original Ablex tape duplicator's master tape too!

I have no idea how many of these tapes were duplicated, I do know it was a very limited production though. The tape you have a TZX of was sent to Sweden where somebody wanted it more than I did, so I made him a gift of it.

I'm not sure it could be classed as freeware either, since the author never never said it was- as far as I know, he advertised in AlchNews and sold them from his home address - I guess you could say he was a talented "bedroom hacker". Andy Davis, having a much better memory than I would probably be able to tell you more.....

Ahem, I wanted to add this tape a.s.a.p. and this is the temporary result.

Only tapes coming from the TZX Vault/SPA2 import runs can get the Perfect flag currently and automatically, allowing the "old TZX files" (the 1997-1998 ones), as we fondly call them internally, to be superseded with verified dumps.
So, this will be corrected during the next TZX Vault sync.

Oh, okay, that was an assumption. I figured the author wanted to let you add it to your PD library
The publication status has been updated to suit.

Yeah, I would have assumed the same to be honest, but these tapes were commercially made by Ablex, and that's the same outfit that did all the Sinclair User (etc) cover tape duplication. It was just as confusing at the time, which is why I never did manage to review the program. I got very cheap tapes to start with that wouldn't load, then CrO2 high bias tapes, that wouldn't load, then I got the Ablex distro master, which DID load but wouldn't work because I couldn't figure out how it worked. The author THEN said he forgot to tell me about some variables that had to be defined before you started the program (or something like), but by then, I'd lost interest.

In the meantime, we were on at least the forth variant of the program, and now Ablex had produced the distribution copies, one of wich, he sent to me. Needless to say, it got ignored since there was bound to be an update in a few days
