die hard 2, die harder

edited July 2007 in Chit chat
was not shown last night (it was supposed to be according to the papers) and cliffhanger was shown instead.

ok

why?

the glasgow airport incident

but no one died.

hmmmm

what was the point. who was it going to upset?

so cliffhanger was on. and that upset me, not to mention people who like to watch bruce willis battling terrorists, rather than sly stalone battling crims.

so what was the deal.

well 3 planes were blown up in die hard two

so cliffhager was shown, where only 1 plane was blown up, and one that crashed.

Die Hard 2 is probably the _worst_ action flick in existence. It's cringeworthy to watch. It's so wrong it isn't even wrong.

Cliffhanger is two orders of magnitude better.

Yeah, this trying-not-to-offend-anyone rescheduling really winds me up too.

I remember sitting down to watch The Fugitive. Cancelled. Replaced with Miss Marple or something. I couldn't think why: no prisoners had escaped that day, no doctors wives been murdered... No, I found out the reason was that there had been a train derailment and The Fugitive contains a scene early on with a train crash.

    Wha?

Now, all those people who would have liked to watch Miss Marple are going to miss it 'cos they didn't know it was on. All those people who wanted to watch Harrison Ford doing his stuff are not likely to want to watch Miss Marple. And anyone who's nearest and dearest has just been injured in a train crash are not likely to be sitting at home relaxing watching the TV!

Oh, but we have to be soooo sensitive... Yeah, but what about all the people who are hurt and killed every day who get no press coverage. Their loved ones have to put up with just avoiding the inappropriate programs.

And what about the extended news coverage with graphic scenes of the wreck and the bodies? That's ok to show I suppose?

I find Ms Marple to be offensive, on behalf of a friend of mine, because his gran used to look like her and was as nosey ... and now she's passed on ... sob, sob ...

If the pussification of society means we're unwilling to start wars, I'm all for it.

The snag is that it has to be the pussification of the WORLD. Otherwise someone is sure to take advantage.

(Incidentally, my 'pussycats' are absolutely ruthless when they have a mouse, bird, rabbit or other prey animal. Perhaps 'bunnification of society' would be a better term).
