On a similar note I have a bunch of classic series episodes recorded to VHS from the recent UKGold run (of a couple of years ago). I want to transfer these on to my PC (and then possibly to DVD), just to get rid of the tapes (I need the room). I know that I need a hardware doo-dah to do this, does anyone have any recommendations?

Worst: I hate them all to start with, but they quickly grow on me. The only two that I liked right from the start were Paul McGann and Christopher Eccleston.
It took me a long time to get used to Colin B and Sly Mcoy, but they turned out fantastic.
Click on any of those links... right click on the green bar that appears with the name of the torrent in - save it to your hard drive and don't bother with anything else on that page.
Open up uTorrent and load the torrent file from where you saved it on disk. It will then ask you where to save the files it will be downloading - you can pick and choose which files to download (or even go back and choose more later).

You may want to check that your ISP doesn't have a bandwidth limit in effect on your account!
cheers Megatrom-UK im getting ETA's of about 3 or 4 days and sometimes upto 6 weeks, they are downloading at about 14kb/s is that normal ive only used limewire before.

You can pause/stop and resume though, so you don't need to leave you PC on all of the time.
