Did anyone buy Pedro? I didn't but I was wondering... :)

Unfortunately yes, but at least I got it at the discount price of 50p, but I still felt ripped off.

I got it with a load of other games that were on sale at some crappy supermarket that closed many, many, years ago. I went there for a few weeks on and off and basically bought all of Imagine and Bug-Bytes early releases. Most of these games were pretty dump, but being able to buy 4 for the price of 1 was a good bargain even if the 4 games were shit :D

The first and worst game I ever bought was Kong, I was expecting Donkey Kong, so you can just imagine how disappointed I was.

A load of those crappy Imagine games, like Pedro and Space Cruiser, were part of a magazine cover mounted deal with Marshall Caverndish. The mag, one of those weekly things that end up costing you an arm and a leg in the long run, was eventually released as "Input". One of the reasons for Imagine's demise (as well as the mega-games and trying to buy up all the tape dupicators time in time for xmas) was that they couldn't produce loads of multiformat games, one a week for each machine, for this mag!
"During the Christmas of 1983 Imagine had bought out the entire capacity of the country's largest tape duplicating plant in an effort to scupper the output of their competitors. This apparent masterstroke backfired horribly however, leaving Imagine with a warehouse full of unsellable stock, forcing them to slash their prices in the New Year and infuriate retailers in the process. Their second misjudgement was to agree to write software for the publishing house Marshall Cavendish. The sort of games that were expected and what Imagine were able to deliver in the time available differed somewhat, and when Marshall Cavendish pulled their investment it tighten the screw on a company who were spending a vast amounts of money to keep themselves at the top of the software tree."

Definately the 50 games on one Cassette by Cascade. It was horrible price , 50 DM at that time. But I thought it is good, 1 DM per game. But then these games were worser than anything I programmed ever myself when I was a child...

I thought it was bad as well, it seemed like a quick knock off job that could have been called anything. Ocean's games at this time were usually quite good.

Line of Fire was a pretty weak Operation Wolf clone. I got my Spectrum second-hand and fairly late, so most of the awful games I played either came with it or on covertapes.
