    It's quite a joke of a company, isn't it?

    "Backups? Oh yes, we take backups. We overwrite them ASAP, though."

    Sounds like it's run by the Bastard Operator From Hell. He liked using /dev/null as the backup device. Made the backups go really fast, and none of that tedious tape changing required.
