Ejected BAE Systems Tornado navigator hunted over Norwich

edited November 2007 in Chit chat
Just read this on the BBC:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/norfolk/7095214.stm

I can imagine the conversation now:

Pilot - Hey Nigel, someone has submitted a bug report about the Navigator's ejector seat firing when the plane is upside down

Navigator - Nah that was fixed in "Windows for Tornados Service Pack 3"

Pilot - Okay better test in anyway...here goes

<Bang> <Whoooosh>

Navigator - Arse!

Hmmm must have been flying pretty low for the navigator not to survive, or is it a case of the parachute just didn't open at all.

Wouldn't suprise me if the plane wasn't actually maintained by kwik fit

And why was the pilot flying upside down, was he Australian or something

And finally bugger me this is my 1000th post whoooooohoooooo

Not sure what other forum sites you hang around but I don't think WOS will do that to posters who get to 1000....

apparently as it was upside down, and ejector seats fire you out quite fast and far enough away from the plane so you dont hit it and can get the chute open...he mustve been shot out at the ground with some speed and force, wouldnt have had time to get the chute open
