Moon Cresta

I only played this a few times and I don't know why cos it was quite good. Very addictive, some neat graphics and colourful too. I better get downloading the .TZX and give it another go.

I loved this game in the arcades back in the early 1980s, but never really got into it on the Spectrum. I'll have to give it another go too.

Brilliant conversion, and underrated shoot 'em up imo. Great docking sequence too.

Very good arcade conversion considering how old it is. Great little shooter. The text for the score etc looks like its from the arcade machine as well.

I do like the sequel Terra Cresta, pity the gameplay area is quite small though

ISTR that it had something to do with a rush with the programming, after scrapping the original game design and code. And let's not go into the bug that occurs in the game!

Still, I loved Terra Cresta in the arcades and the speccy. Didn't really get into Moon Cresta though.

I've only played it on speccy and simply loved it ,one of the few games of the genre that got me hooked up enough for me to be any good at it!

I used to love the "spaceship conections!"

Definitely one of my favorites. A lot of my youth was spent playing the arcade version in the local Squash club in Swinton Manchester. When the Speccy version came out it was a great reproduction of it...probably one of the best arcade conversions on the speccy.

No, go into it? What bug are you talking about?

I thought Moon Cresta on the Spectrum was superb. I played it on the Xbox MAME and at the same time had it through RF on the Spectrum, so I flicked between AV and RF to compare the graphics, and it made me realise how good a conversion it was. If anything, the Speccy one is more playable.

Wasn't this the game that oft failed to load? I think I have a couple of copies of it on various compilation tapes and never does it load. In Crash magazine's top 100 Speccy games, I'm sure they mentioned a similar thing about it being a sod to load.

I do love a good, 'Trip to the space war' now and again. Shame the sequels (As much as I love 'em) were totally removed from the original concept (Eh? You move left n right on a vertical scrolly screen and shoot stuff!) Just wanted a few more variations in enemy waves, and a few more suprises. Lightforce nearly got there, but it just wasn't as fun. Moon Cresta is a nice, simple lil shoot em up package, that plays flawlessly. More games should take note.

    Z-Blast SD+ is a goodun' too.

The bug where once the game loops to the beginning of the game from the end, no enemies appear any more.

Funnily enough, the same thing happens on the Spectrum version of Terra Cresta!

Moon Cresta is great, makes up for Firebirds & Arcadia that I also bought long before! Even the Dragon 32 version is nice though only monochrome.
Terra Cresta is OK but very tiny screen and hard to see, just a Xevious clone really.

Terra Cresta is probably the arcade game I play most on Mame,...tapper being next.

Again I played the ass out of it in the arcade and loved the 'phoenix' part when you had all 5 ships....can't seem to get that now...guess me coordination ain't what it used to be.

Moon Cresta is a classic, very playable, lots of fun with great attention to detail. Still one of my favourite shoot-em ups.

For me it seemed to break the mould for Incentive after Splat! (and Mined-Out, though that was from Quicksilva). Don't know why, but I'd pidgeon-holed them.
