I dont normally watch this but i do like it when theres a weird act who enters, bit like the death metal rockers a few years back (forget the name)

This year looks like it will be entertaining...

A puppet representing Ireland ! No doubt it'll probably win !

Scary to think this 'puppet' has released 6 albums in Ireland ?!

    ...and it's a bit early too, isn't it not for another 3 months almost?

    I missed it last year since I'm in the states, but I hope Englands entry is better than Daz Sampson or whatever that 35 year old wiggers name was.

    Kinda reminds me of that episode of fathr Ted where they get to represent Ireland in the European Song Contest. The only reason they got in was because Ireland could not afford to host it the following year. The only way to guearentee that they didn't win it was to have a real crap act representing them.

    No that was the talent contest episode against a rival parish, the one with the eurovision is this!

    No. In this episode they planned to rip of the B-side to some obscure record the Dougal owned. It was this song.


    Just before going on stage to perform this song, they heard the tune piped into the lift and toilets and heard a few people humming the tune. Suddenly realising they may be rumbled had to go with their second choice of song, one they had written entirely by themselves.

    ahaha yeh I forgot about that. we had a 'rapper' entry. not sure if he made it or was a contestant in the play-offs with bruce forsythe.

    justin hawkins from the darkness blatently did the best song for last years eurovision entry but was pipped to the post by a ressurrected boy/girl pop band called Scooch! who i think went on to actually score 'nil points'...the best thing is that none of it really matters to anyone..

    Eurovision died the year they stopped using the orchestra.
    It used to be a nice family show. Not anymore.

    The main problem seems to be that voters only hear the songs once (or twice if they're in the semi-final). It gives novelty acts an unfair advantage over genuinely good music, because people only remember the acts that dress up in a silly way.

    I thought Ireland had a policy of entering songs with no chance of winning, on purpose, in order to lose, as they don't want to foot the bill of hosting it again.

    I like watching Eurovision, to see the votes as they come in, Terry Wogan's piss taking makes it fun.

    I love watching Eurovision - because of the legendary Terry Wogan commentary. You should all drink along with him - the more drunk he gets, the better the show gets! Hurruh!

    Also, I did hear a while ago that Bill Bailey was up for entering for the United Kingdom, anyone know any more on that???

    Well, the show is a bit of a wank considering some countries will always deliberately give the highest/lowest score to a certain country. But actually I couldn't care less.

    Terry Wogan has announced he is giving up Eurovision, Graham Norton will take his place.

    I thought it was announced shortly after the last eurovision. He certainly seemed to indicate during his commentary that it may well be his last because of the bloc voting. I think Norton is the right choice for the programme.

    i can see why they picked graham norton, but they are trying to keep euro vision as a sat nite entertainment show, they should have got someone with a quicker wit. norton does better with scripted stuff.

    He may not be sharp with his humour, but he's definitely camp enough to cover an event like Eurovision :lol:

    meh I guess norton is a reasonable choice, as long as you have someone who doesn't take it seriously, to piss of the europeans that'll do

    but I only watched it for Tel's commentary and I dislike norton so I'll not watch in any more :p

    tbh the best thing they could do is say "you're all bloc voting, it's no fun any more, so piss off and pay for your own bloody singing contest" :-P

    Not worth watching without Wogan. Can't bear more than 20 seconds of Norton and can see the viewing figures plummeting, which would be good, then we could get it off the TV and hopefully pull the funding the BBC puts into it too.
