Do the simple quests first, such as helping out people. Also be very careful of venturing out too far, you will easily get killed. Up your levels as soon as possible.

thnx. i'll give it a go. don't worry about me, i'm a bad ass. :)
www.runehq.com is a handy resource (especially the quest guides). The knowledege base on the runescape site itself is worth a read. I spend far too much time on this game but I appreciate the fact that it's made by a bunch of people in Cambridge and the humour, and spelling, is English.
cool, thnx, if i run into you i will be sure to spare your life. :)
Runescape, argh, the advanced rock clicking simulator. Featuring dozens of skills, all of them revolving around nothing but clicking on the same things hundreds/thousands of times until your level increases a bit, before you repeat it again for another few dozen hours. Many dreary weeks of mindlessly clicking mouse buttons later, you'll eventually find yourself a moderately powerful character but in a world inhabited primarily by cretins that cry 'noob pwnage!' all day long. It really is a waste of your life playing it. I worked on customer support for a while and if they hadn't sacked me for some made up reason or other, I'd have lost to the will to live already. Honestly some of the idiots that play that game should be removed from the gene-pool for the crap they come out with. Just cry 'noob' yourself in the game and see the stupid responses you get.

That's exactly why I had my character set up as ignoring everyone aside from people on my list of friends.
It's true what they say -- training skills is boring, combat gets boring very quickly, the quests are often tedious. Making money is a pain unless you pay for membership. On the other hand, the social aspect can be a saving grace.
I felt that the quests were the only thing I liked about the game. I only leveled up so as to be able to go on the next quest. Oh, and I really enjoyed the home-made feel of the game, the rough polygon 3D, simple textures, etc.

yeah it remeinds me of hunter on the amiga, and another game i can't place. did you become a memeber, or just do the free quests?
I only did the free quests, got to lvl50 and I think I have 3-4 quests left.
cool, i am gonna start my first quest tonight, i have to help a cook find a chicken and some other things. i have seen the guides that are available, but i think i'll just try and do it on my tod, other wise i'd just be following instuctions. i want a bit of a challenge.

*sigh* I wouldn't mind playing that game again. I'd join you if I could, not sure how well it plays on dial-up though
Hmm, I think my guy is nearly 7 years old this year! Haven't touched him since last year or the year before. I usually log in once a year just to see if they haven't deleted me.
yerah that'd be good, but im still only a level one. :)
I wouldn't mind, it would be fun walking around with you escorting you from place to place (oh, brother, here come dm_boozefreek and Beanzie with some smart-butt comments ;-) )
Next you will be meeting some in-game heffer and moving to Arizona to marry her.
At your wedding you will dress like your in-game characters and have rings fashioned like your favorite in-game +dex rings.
Then you will both attend those Cons where everyone dresses up and swings plastic swords at each other while saying things like
'I shall slay thee foul beast!'
Shortly after that she will meet a Barbarian Warrior while soloing and then she will move to London to be with him....you'll be stuck in Arizona with your plastic sword and tights.

He tried to take it like the man he isn't. He walked bowlegged for many a moon thereafter.
'couldn't stop a pig in an alley', as my old dad used to say.

or at least he fought the monsters while i supervised, and shouted support, :)
You ever thought of a career as a Mcdonalds manager?
Ah, if it's the one I remember then you might want to wait with that one. Keep it as your mid to last of the free quests.
yeah i thought so. i just wanted to explore a little, i wandered about and killed a spider. yay.
