Regarding Speccy Spoilers

Daren, would it be possible to add a redirecting link to the new home for the Speccy Spoilers page?

Old link: http://www.rzxarchive.co.uk/speccyspoilers/

New link:
http://www.worldofspectrum.org/speccyspoilers

---

Martjin, could you please update the links and tributes page so that it reflects the new link? They're still showing the original .co.uk domain. On a side note, the links page has some other broken links and/or outdated info (can someone please help check this?).

---

I saw Lee's post here:

http://www.worldofspectrum.org/forums/showpost.php?p=194509&postcount=22

How long will Google keep showing cache results pointing to the old address?
I don't mind paying to renew the domain for 1 year, just to have a re-directing link there.

----

On the the main page of Speccy Spoilers we read:

'(One day I will finish this animation properly!)'

Maybe (just maybe) this line should be removed? If it is meant to stay the same way, as a tribute, I understand.

Thanks to Daren for taking care of that page, and thanks to Martjin for hosting it here.

I remember reading that there is a way to "force" Google (and other search engines) to re-read/re-cache a site. And I read it via a thread somewhere here on WoS. I'm sorry how vague I am but it is a start.

Done. I noticed the Spanish tribute page lacked the link, so I added it there as well.

    Hmmm... :-(
1 broken link was a typo, some others have gone. There are 2 left that need further checking with their authors (Philip Bee's site and the Dutch Sinclair users group).
As for outdated info, if you could let me know what needs updating, I'll happily make the correction(s).

I decided to leave stuff like that as it is, so the site can be seen more or less as it was when Jim ran it. There's quite a few of Jim's musings on the site and I think they should be left in.

Regarding the domain - I did intend to buy it when it expired last month, but it looked like someone beat me to it. Its status is "Renewal required" which I think means that it can be renewed by the original party within a couple of months or so. I emailed Jim's mum with details where she can try and get the domain secured. That was over a week ago, but I haven't heard anything from her yet.

Thanks Daren. I understand the motives and it makes sense.

Martjin, what follows is a list of broken links or sites who have been down for some time. When I said outdated info I was just referring to the broken links (a redundancy, I know).

    Page checked:

    http://www.worldofspectrum.org/links.html

Sinclair Heaven, maintained by Lee Fogarty. - not working

De HCC sinclair gg Homepage, maintained by Johan Koning.
Home of the Dutch Sinclair users group!
Available in both English and Dutch. - not working

Anestis World - In Spectrum We Trust, maintained by Anestis Koutsoudis.
Home of the active `Greek Spectrum Users Club'. - Under heavy reconstruction? I can ask him about this one.

New Generation Software World, maintained by Rachel Evans.
An insider's look at the history of New Generation Software. - not working

I've Started So I'll Finish by Philip Bee.
Lots of interviews with famous Spectrum people and the Rock Hard Speccy Quiz. - not working

Now that I woke up I realized I started this thread based on the links from the faq, not the main links page. Should these be updated or kept as they are, for historical reasons?

Damn, I just read Jim's tribute bit. I had no idea (or just completely forgot) that he was "I am not Gamestage". He was hilarious.

    Bugger :(
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

The link is correct, but Lee disabled the site for the moment (due to leechers, according to earlier threads).
De HCC sinclair gg Homepage, maintained by Johan Koning.

    Message outstanding.
Anestis World - In Spectrum We Trust, maintained by Anestis Koutsoudis.

Yes, Anestis said he'd be back later.
New Generation Software World, maintained by Rachel Evans.
An insider's look at the history of New Generation Software. - not working
This is really sad, after all the work Rachel did. :x
I'm not sure whether to remove the link or hope for the best...
I've Started So I'll Finish by Philip Bee.

The problem here is that the FAQ has been unmaintained for years...

Nope, two very different sites. Google is your friend, probably.
