Unfortunately, I suspect this technology will go to the military first. The trouble is that if you depersonalize war, suddenly war becomes MUCH easier to wage if your troops are thousands of miles away in a bunker controlling a glorified RC model, resulting in more war. This is already happening with UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles - basically large RC aircraft with guns).

Exactly what I thought. Then the more you look at it the freakier its movement, and the self-balancing is scary. Stick a bloody big gun on the top and some logic in it and we're all in pretty big trouble. Jesus.
Can you imagine that poor abomination to be deployed in chav-infested places - all the idiots kick it and throw bottles or other crap at it, then when it's sensors spot a sufficient number of them near, a hidden laser that can fire in 360 degrees comes out and fries them all.
