Worst graphics ever?
There's (yet another) thread about the best Spectrum graphics, so here's one about the worst. Of course, if you want to be fair then a "worst" graphics nomination is more difficult to make, as you have to decide if a game's bad graphics are due to it's time or system limitations, or just lack of talent or effort on the part of the "artist".
By which I mean, a 1983 type-in listing can perhaps be forgiven for having bad graphics, as can a 1984 Quill-ed, where memory was very limited. But a 1985 or later commercial platform or race game doesn't deserve such considerations.
And the truth is, for my part I can't think of a really bad game (graphically wise) on the Spectrum, as I only play a few Speccy games nowadays, and they are all good games with good, or at least acceptable for the Speccy, graphics. The exception being Minesweeper, which has bad graphics, but considering it's in BASIC, then it's perhaps excusable. And it's a great game.
I KNOW that there are some commercial games with terrible graphics, but I can't remember any of them offhand. Although didn't Kung Fu Master have bad graphics, or was that just bad colour clash? The Young Ones was graphically not too good, but not horrendous.
Any ideas?

1985 - The day after.
Both games were commercial and deserved better graphics...

Terrible pixel mess probably converted automatically with a poor algorithm from Amiga version or so.
That always annoyed me:

Oh god yeah. I was a huge fan of the film when it came out, and when I finally got the computer game and saw that screen, I was like "TRAVESTY!!!".
All or nothing - not so much bad graphics as odd colours. Pink background = bad idea. http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0000167

lol, that really does look terrible!
Pink??? PINK??? Get outta here you Commie lover! I bet you lurve the colour brown too!
It's magenta buddy! ;)
I disagree here, kind sir! I rather liked Realm of Impossibilty, though it was missing a bit in the playability department.
Anywho ... carry on.
Double dragon, bernard matthews turkey drummers for baseball bats, and angry playmobil people
Rapscallion had pretty clunky chunky graphics.
Stay Kool, was always in the shadow of JSW, some of the enemy sprites just didn't cut the mustard, and Luke Warms head was pin like to say the least, and with that helmet over it it looked like a lightbulb.
SAS Operation Thunderflash, always thought the main sprite looked like he had downs syndrome.
Sorry GreenCard but I disagree!!! Great game, imo, aside from level 2.
The great thing about this game (again imo) is that when I played it it was never the same layout! I didn't learn until a few years later that my tape was bad but the Speccy loaded it in just fine and corrupted lvl1 and lvl3. There were no colour-clashes amazingly enough just the maps were corrupt. I didn't mind the game played just fine ... well, aside from the occasional odd dead-ends ;-)
No, I much prefer pink ;-)

I always thought that despite being the greatest game ever (IMHO) Chaos' graphics were particularly shoddy.
Was musing on this earlier and thought I'd use the search feature in case I got Grusso'd.
For me it's Storm. A budget Gauntlet clone that ignored the hi-res graphics available to speccy developers and when with the sh*tty lego-pixels of the Commodore. Utterly horrific.

Oh, man, gimme a break
Phantomas en el pa?s Brujil (1991):
Phantomas Tales #1, 48K version (2009):
Viaje al centro de la napia (2010):
Yup, sometimes, I like pink in my games
I'm looking at you, Bounty Bob strikes Back and others.
looks like Double Dragon's sprites. Yuck!
Seems that anything involving SWAT teams will turn horribly awful on the Spectrum.
Aye! Even for a couple of quid it was a big disappointment, my mate tried desperately to get his moneys worth from it, even though I could almost see him wincing as every inch of the road passed by onscreen.
The poor sod also bought such wonders as Rapid Fire and Grid Iron, poor guy really knew how to fall for some cover art
