Domark were an odd company; good licences, great presentation and some extravagent promotions, but the games tended to be absolute crap, certainly in the earlier years.

Made up for it with Split Personalities, mind.
If they did Vindicators their names are forever black to me...that could have been brilliant
I always thought that the artist could have drawn a better circle in ghostbusters, especially top right. Also the ghosts body seems to be sliced in two and separated.
That always annoyed me:
Sorry for posting a C64 shot, but the circle in Ghostbusters is a masterpiece compared to the centre circle in Match Day:
Sorry GreenCard but I disagree!!! Great game, imo, aside from level 2.
The great thing about this game (again imo) is that when I played it it was never the same layout! I didn't learn until a few years later that my tape was bad but the Speccy loaded it in just fine and corrupted lvl1 and lvl3. There were no colour-clashes amazingly enough just the maps were corrupt. I didn't mind the game played just fine ... well, aside from the occasional odd dead-ends ;-)
I love View to a kill. The loading screen$ is great. How on earth did they manage to make that image look *exactly* like Roger Moore, just using a few lines? Genius!
even ritman was "unhappy" the c64 version of match day , so lemon says anyway.. besides international soccer + emlyn hughes soon made you forget about it ;) .. remember int.soccer was made in 83 also :) .. play both and you'll find em more playable..
There are lots of games that look awful from static screenshots; the story can be completely when seen animated, Look at Prince of Persia on the 'miggy for example, or Emlyn Hughes on the Speccy
Both look pretty basic; blocky even. When they are in motion though, both games look (and play) beautifully).
For me graphics aren't just about the look - they are also about how well used they are, how appropriate for the game in question and most importantly how well animated.
Quite right. A search on the forums revealed that the closest someone came to saying they liked (to use the term very loosely) the game is Bluce_Ree where he says he remembers "not hating the game", which isn't the same thing admittedly. :)
I quite liked Pitman 7 - and it wasn't too hard to cheat on either :-)

Yeah, I just looked at the loading screen again and I'm not so sure about his eyes though ... look a bit hollow.
PS Thanks for replying to my 5 year old comment :D
It's WoS, eh. Just imagine if you had done this at other forumses, they would have strung you up using yer innards! ( I don't get it ... some forumites/mods (elsewhere) can be forum-rulez fanaticzzz. Common sense anyone? )

That reminds me of a post I did on comp.sys.sinclair years ago. Just found it again here :)
"I think I can at last claim a "first" in the Speccy community here....
I went to watch my local footy team on Saturday (Doncaster Rovers) in a top of the table(ish) clash with the mighty Hereford Utd. Anyway, when the game kicked off I was quite taken aback when I spotted what I can only call "a real life spectrum (minor) celebrity" running around on the pitch in front of me!
Yes, Herefords number 7 was called Pitman - this obviously meant that when his back faced the crowd his shirt read "Pitman 7"! Surely this has got to be unique in the footballing world? Maybe there are other instances where this could occur, but I can't think of any at the moment so I think I can claim my unique sighting as a one off! :)"
Perhaps the pitch manager (or whatever it is called) was having a Party Night right before the Match Day, thus the circles and lines were not perfectly drawn? For that matter, the same pitch guy forgot to put nets in the goals, but fortunately the ball stays inside the goal nevertheless.
Not exactly. Terminus has the character moving on a black background, making it easily recognizable; thus, the orgy of colors of the scenery does not affect gameplay. And it adds a great touch to the game itself, I'd rather say :) See also similar games like Tantalus (also by Paul Hargreaves) or Cyberbig.
Not so on Schizofrenia - due to the mixing between sprites and background it's really hard on the eyes (other than being incomprehensible to play, that is).
Yep, it's pretty hideous. If asked, I'd have guessed it was another hideous port of multicolour lo-res graphics, but it doesn't look anything like the C64 or CPC versions. It really is that bad.
It also shows some sprites that have obviously been designed in black-on-white drawings and look awful when inverted.

Friday the 13th wouldn't have been as bad if the characters didn't look like robots.
I swear one of the women looks like Gail Platt circa 1988.
In fact she probably looks like her now.

can't believe I'm actually standing up for a C*******e game here
 Oh my gosh, that whole scene is horrendous!

For example:
Still, not as bad as Zigzag Golf....
slating sinclair titles.. what's next .. thro' the wall and make-a-chip ? [/end rant] ;)
I'd still like someone to find out who incognito was.. or was it sinclair themselves

Ahhahahah they seem to wear underwear(cacophony) and even the ellipse is drawn wrong!
IT'S A KABADDI SIMULATOR!!!!!!!!
Maybe it was to give them impression it was played on an uneven pitch?

Strontium Dog, another Quicksilva game; remarkably similar graphics.
