CRASH 78 & Mel Croucher's Computer Fun Line

edited May 2008 in Infoseek database
Someone contacted me and asked how they could get hold of Mel Croucher's Computer Fun Line. This was an audio item on the cover tape of CRASH 78, see ftp://ftp.worldofspectrum.org/pub/sinclair/magazines/Crash/Issue78/Pages/Crash7800003.jpg and ftp://ftp.worldofspectrum.org/pub/sinclair/magazines/Crash/Issue78/Pages/Crash7800005.jpg .

The Infoseek listing for the tape (http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0013530) doesn't mention it, but it does have "Cosmic Chaos (soundtrack)". After downloading, this is a slightly odd 5 second MP3 of someone laughing.

So:

1. Can Mel Croucher's Computer Fun Line be added to the Infoseek listing?

2. Does anyone have it as an MP3 or similar?

The trouble is the genre - the database only understands software, hardware and books; nothing else.
Sound tapes, magazines, etc., therefore don't get a listing, I'm afraid...

It just so happens that I have that Crash tape in the loft. I'll see if I can dig it out and make an MP3 of the audio parts for you.

I have made an mp3 of it and uploaded it to the incoming folder on the FTP site. This mp3 is about 3 minutes long.

    Enjoy!

There's a "d'oh" case here. Of course I can add the soundtrack to the index, as unlinked entry. So that's what I did - the uploaded soundtrack itself shall appear in due course. Thanks a lot for that!

    Many thanks!

I guess "Cosmic Chaos (soundtrack)" should maybe be removed from the listing too? It just seems to be the first few seconds of the Mel Croucher track.

Oh dear me, the humour doesn't date well...

It was meant to be funny? I never found it funny in the first place.

I'm ashamed to say that I listened to it every week. I was 15/16 at the time.

I also was a sucker for the SAM Coupe Hotline.

Both were run by Bruce Everiss, IIRC.

    Yeah, but was it funny?

Listened to it every week? Must've cost a bit of money - it was on a premium rate telephone number.

I agree with the other comment about Cosmic Chaos (soundtrack) being no longer required.

I only uploaded it for archive purposes - I never said it would be funny

    Don't tell my parents ;)

The joys of phone bills back in the days when they weren't itemized...
