hmmm maybe on par with wikipedia (not 100% acurate, but great for a quick reference), facebook (great for keeping in touch and searching for people you know in the real world)
ebay: buy a fake pair of raybans for half a groat....great...
facebook: you've been poked by a boring idiot who you never liked at school anyway. clicjk here to poke the boring idiot back, and guarantee a life of rejecting invitations to "mel the bell is a perv" group
wikipedia: as reliable as those fake raybans i bought on ebay a few weeks ago for half a groat
very good site, massive database of games. dunno about 'best site', would probably have to put amazon maybe or youtube above it, but where are your goalposts? best speccy site anyway(that Ive seen)
I think the Internet has now become too big to name a single best site.
Yesterday's news stated that Google alone now holds over a trillion search results.
A quick search for "Is this the best site" yields over 10,000 hits, but most of them qualify the sentence with a type of site. e.g.
"Is this the best English language speccy site?"
If so then I'd certainly say yes. It's because of the number of hours of work that have gone into building up this huge archive - and of course the attention to the minutest details.
The forums of course are great, even for someone like me who is sort of a "forum nomad" (I regularly disappear for a couple of months, but keep coming back). For me, it is part of WoS's charm, that you can do this.
Re:Wikipedia, I spend many hours on it. Granted it's not guaranteed to be accurate or to be trusted, however I think it is far more reliable than most give it credit for.
The open and transparent peer-review system seems to struggle along , gradually improving accuracy, correcting mistakes, and adding further valuable info. Well, in most cases anyway!

wikipedia is only as accurate as the sources it uses. i think its better than a quick google search as there is a lot of shit on the net thats supposed to be accurate. the decent articles use info from a lot of sources and compare it without making assumtions.
imdb is a good site i just wish it was a little easier to use.
http://nintendo-ds.dcemu.co.uk/ is a great site for DS emulation, with no rom downloads, just the emulators, homebrew, and aplications.
The best site i go to, theres a lot of sport sites i go to daily as well and of course youtube.
Theres been some good arguments in the past here though ! But overall its a great atmosphere, such a shame only 3 WOSers went to the retro show earlier this month though. Hopefully the figure will be more for the next one.
myspeccy.com is also a brilliant site, go there a ton
I like Youtube. I can spend hours looking at old 80's stuff or old music videos as well.
lmdb is useful for finding out movies and stuff, can spend hours on that site
mininova is a site i use to download films from
and of course.....WoS!
I think it's a bit of a dumb question as it's being asked on the site itself. Do you think some 15 year old gangster rap twat in L.A. or a 60 year old dog-cooker in China, both who never ever heard of a Speccy, would agree WOS is the best site on the web?

both of which would be oblivious to the interweb as they are too busy shooting up or eating dog respectively, therefore the question is null and void to said participants

errrrrrrrrm
disclaimer:- NOT WORK FRIENDLY, nor girlfriend / wife, kiddie friendly :)
Yes they are dictorial and take advantage of their monopolistic position, but:-
1) I can buy vertually anything from anywhere.
2) I can can sell my tat at a fair price, without standing in cold wet field on Sunday mornings, with Chavs offering me 20p for it.
imo anyway.
its certainly the best forum.
Other must sites for me are :
gamefaqs.com
bbc.co.uk/sport
computerandvideogames.com
mininova.org

my other fave sites cant be mentioned here.
Yes.
I'll second that. :)
And I triple that, see you, up the ante and never fold my poker face.
I don't have a favourite site. But this is certainly one of my most visited. :)
(cue massive WoS bickering fight :-) )
(that includes you karingal ;-) )
Wikipedia.com,
Google.com (the best search engine ever),
www.xbox-scene.com, (everything related to the XBox and XBox 360),
www.gutenberg.org/ (free ebooks, this site should be government funded),
http://www.horrormasters.com/ (more ebooks, horror themed),
gaslight.mtroyal.ca/ (more free ebooks).
gamefaqs.com would be very good if it didn't have so many trolls and the worst moderators ever.
Not the best, but very interesting:
http://davidwonn.kontek.net/ (some amazing video game glitches),
http://speeddemosarchive.com/ (some amazing speed runs through games - Half-Life completed in less than half an hour!),
http://www.archive.org/details/movies (some out of copyright films - there should be lots more like this site, but where?)
http://z9.invisionfree.com/Nintendo_64_Forever/ (a great N64 forum).
Theres been some good arguments in the past here though ! But overall its a great atmosphere, such a shame only 3 WOSers went to the retro show earlier this month though. Hopefully the figure will be more for the next one.
