To balance that out, here's a story with a happy ending; a newly-posted Automatrics theft recovery video. I love watching these!

  • I just watched a remaster of the 1939 movie Wizard of Oz. My young daughter had not seen the movie before and had only read the book. She was captivated, for something made in 1939, its an incredible feet, although I am sure the remaster we saw added an extra sheen, that original movie goers would not have experienced.

  • Wonder if people said the same thing when it was shown in colour during the 1950’s?

You writing that reminded me of this one-liner in Witcher 3. Bonus points for saying "It's wild here" while the game is called "Witcher 3:Wild Hunt" :))

I think it was always shown in color, even in 1939. It's not like you needed a special color projector to show it.

  • The whole point of the film is the colour. It starts of in B/W for the real world and then goes to technicolor for the dream / oz world.

  • There was an urban myth a cast member hanged himself due to being rebuffed by a girl he fancied and hanged himself on set, one of the munchkin people i think. There's a scene where there's a long shot of them all on the yellow brick road and you can see something that looks like something hanging from a tree at the back of the set, more likely a crew member. It's airbrushed out of the digital versions but is found on the VHS version.

  • You need wind power. QL? I'm predicting you probably won't be missing anything. Just a hunch. Just a shot in the dark.
I stole it off a space ship.
  • I've got Quantum Leap on the back burner, I've not heard any views on it, so do let us know your thoughts.
  • Has QL been officially broadcast in the UK? If so which channel? No need to reply if you, ahem, found another way to watch it.

  • Fair enough, I'll wait. I stopped doing that sort of thing as it became too much hassle. ;) And I ended up with too much to watch, which meant less retro time in the evening.

  • Noticed earlier this week that there's a new Willow TV series on Disney+. Then realised I've never seen the movie. Watched that - it was alright I suppose, nothing special - but I've quite enjoyed the TV series.

the film was...just alright? its a classic, a family favourite of ours, mind u i might be biased as a best mate of mine was in it lol
There was a decent arcade game of Willow released too, you can play it on mame

  • I'm enjoying Willow too. Not bad, a bit Disney in ticking boxes for the right characters rather than the best characters, but the story is fun, some good actors too. The music at the end is great too, doesn't really go but some good tunes.

Having a mate who starred in Willow is cool. All the old actors seem to be having small parts in the series, is he?
