edited November 2008 in Chit chat
Just saw the premiere of it on Cartoon Network ... looks ok, probably very siilar to the "clone wars" movie from earlier this summer ... anywho go see more at www.cartoonnetwork.com/clonewars ... or perhaps not ... all I saw really was an R-Type-like game there.

Zzzz ....

I enjoyed it, it was a bit too childish in some areas (shame) but thought there was a lot of action in it so that made up for it. Jabba the Hutts cousin sounding like a 70's pimp was amusing.

I wasnt expecting much from it so it didnt disappoint, thought it was alright in the end and look forward to the series starting in October. Hope it improves slightly and doesnt forget the older audience.

I noticed the preview on Cartoon Network had the infamous "In a galaxy, far, far away...." except they only had "..."

Maybe I remember this incorrectly but I'm pretty sure the original had four periods at the end of that sentence.

I wonder why Cartoon Network went with only three. (True indicator of the global recession?- ed)

    Oh, well.

There was 2 series of Cartoons that have been re-made in to the film, this is the new spin-off series from the film.

Yeah that was also called the Clone Wars, very different story from the film though. The animation was totally different as well, the latest one is much more 3d computer graphics whereas the other Clone Wars was very 'cartooney'.

The latest film has a lot of action, aimed at kids but a lot of fights etc, i found it enjoyable.

Which film? The one on CN or the one in the cinemas?

2003 Cartoon series Clone Wars G.Tartakovsky influence/created, I am not too big a fan of his nor this series.

2008 Cartoon movie The Clone Wars Was in the cinemas. (August 15, 2008 )

2008 Cartoon series The Clone Wars Follows above-mentioned cartoon movie. (October 3, 2008 )

Well, there were two episodes and I have to say that Yoda kicks butt. Nothing wrong with that, I like the little fella!

I am not sure whether there will be stand-alone episodes with an underlying storyline or if there is just going to be one big space-opera going on.

The first episode was stand-alone enough as was the second one but then they showed glimpses from next week's episode and it seems to be a continuation of what they discovered in this episode.

Whatever it will be I have to say that I was not too badly disappointed ... I might even microwave some popcorn when watching next week :-)
    Spoiler:

Dont mind the 'black humour' at all, all harmless fun.

The film i thought was alright but must admit the series so far has been better than i thought. Quite cool theres a lot of them to come but yeah i'm getting bored of the stupid droids and their 'roger roger' comments. Surprised by the amount of action/battles/deaths in it.

Downloading this every week for sure. P*ssed off that Sky have put it on Sky movies, its not a movie Sky, its a series of 20 minute episodes ! As usual theyve done that to try and get more people buying the movies channel, poor as it should be on Sky 1 or something

Yeah, I'm liking the stories so far, they seem solid and consistent enough. Now that I've had enough time to ponder over things I've accepted that the cartoon-movie was directed more towards children than the adults but I'm ok with that. The show is rolling along nicely, and works amazingly well on the small screen.

Yep agree with that, been surprised by all the action in the episode. Quite like the style of animation they use and would love to see some other stories with other characters, eg some of the bounty hunters or that.

I read about 50 are done so far with potentially many more to come. I re-watched the movie the other day and after seeing the short cartoons it made the movie better to watch. Still not ideal but could have been much worse.

Just wish the battledroids were tougher !

Hehe, yeah ... one thing I've noticed from the Clones (when they are faced with battledroids/any droid) is that they call them "clankers" or "clinkers" not sure which it is really ... I'm not sure whether I like that or not ... I know the actor the Clones/Fett is based on is from NZ (iIrc) and his accent comes right through (no probs there, I mean there were plenty of British-sounding officers aboard the Death Star ;-) ) but I sometimes cringe when I hear "clankers" because it just sounds too Aussie/NZ-ish ... i.e. it makes the "experience" too (modern-)Earth-based and not outer-space-based (for me).

Some of the accents are too 'english' for me in the recent films. Sounds quite weird !

Must admit i 'ahem' picked up the star wars case files off ebay very cheaply, amazing the information in those. Liked the films but never really bought tons of books about Star Wars or that but these case files arent bad. Came out a few years ago apparently. Reading some of them actually make the 3 prequels slightly better believe it or not

The series gets better with each show, in my humblest of opinions.

The episode with the Commando Droids was well written and made. I think that's my fave show so far ...

Want so say more about the series but am too far down an excellent bott'le of jolly-juice! (Sounds like a free invite for a "classic" boozie/milesy/beanzie/any WoSser reply ... reign in your silly spirits boys -ed)
