And the beauty of that is under Obama we can now live happily as man and wife (boozy=wife).
Bollocks you may be bigger than me but that just means that if you're on all fours your the perfect height for when I'm standing
....Hang on a sec how did I end up being a gaylord? All I said was "you'll be alright", Mile you're next after Beanz you bast it'll be like spitting into a welly boot when I'm finished with you.
and you trust the law courts in that country that much?
only when they suit your arguments i presume. :D
Well....currently having a friend that is facing Aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in jail (25yrs to life)...a crime that I know 100% he did not do (he was with me at the time, and I am basically going to be the star witness in his defense)...
The mass media was in Obamas camp from day 1, 300 million of Obamas campaign funds were from foreign sources.....It was a bought election.....democracy was most definitely absent.
I agree that the amount of money you must spend to stand a chance is not democratic. However, the fact still stands that this election had the biggest turnout since the 60s, so it's done something to get the apathetic off their collective arses, which is a victory for democracy.
However, there's room for improvement. The electoral college, for instance, has its own histerical...I mean historical reasons, but in this day and age it's an anachronism, and the presidential vote could now be a straight popular vote; Obama won by a huge margin in the electoral college, but only by a few % in the popular vote. And we could have avoided the whole Bush fiasco in the first place.
Short of shenanigans by Diebold, McCain couldn't win for losing: he ran an overly negative campaign, complete with a nasty smear campaign of innuendo and out-of-context quoting (which you repeated) which were tantamount to trolling, and I bet that cost him a lot of supporters. Sarah Palin caught a lot of Hillary supporters at the start then ruined it by opening her mouth - especially when the elephant in the room is that a vote for McCain is really a vote for Palin, since there's a good chance that McCain will croak on the job. They really didn't help themselves.
It's funny, whichever side loses always says the media was on the other guy's side from the start. And whoever wins, the other side will noisily bitch for the next 4 (or 8 ) years - just like liberals whined about Bush, the conservatives will now spend the next 4 (or 8 ) years whining about Obama.
To quote those liberal French, plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.
EDIT: she IS the only one of the 4 that has held an executive office in government.
It would be interesting to compare and contrast Palin's executive experience with what Boris Johnson has (and will get) as Mayor of London, and got as a Tory MP and Shadow Minister.
Alaska population: 683,478
London population: 7,512,400 (or more, depending on where you draw the border)
There is more to being a governor than just the population of that state....You are making decisions that effect the whole of the US (and beyond)...especially a state with a lot of oil piping through it.
edit: reason I have said that is that her neigh sayers have brought up the population a few times....It's as ridiculous as the dems attacking her experience when she clearly had more than their guy running for president..not vp!

And don't forget her foreign relations experience... She can see Russia from there!
Which pretty much sums up the whole campaign....personal attacks rather than attacking her policies.....because they couldn't!
I think exposing the way she thinks is pretty valuable as long as you don't distort what she says.
All the satirists had to do was to repeat her own words...
All Palin was to McCain was eye-candy who ticked various opinion boxes. He had no idea who she was, what she was like, whether she was capable or not, all he wanted was a woman who had certain opinions.
The country saw right through that (thankfully!), and had he picked a proper running mate he'd have been in a much stronger position. But Palin *really* put McCain's judgement into sharp focus. It was obvious she wasn't up to the job to anyone who took more than a moment's notice of her, and that reflected poorly on him because he apparently thought she was suitable to be President should he die.
Apparently the statistics for blacks voting for Obama was 97% (survey conducted by an African American)....Most claimed it was not because he was black....
A 'news crew' took McCain's policies and went on the street asking blacks why they were voting for Obama and quoted McCain's policies to them (pretending they were Obamas)...ALL of them agreed with the policies!!
People may have made a choice but it was an uninformed one for A LOT of people.
Come on now EVERY president/Candidate/person! has said stupid shit...just look at the Obamanations in this thread!!
Yeah, but the "being able to see Russia" line was repeated over and over by Palin herself to justify her lack of International experience. It's one thing to have a video clip of a gaffe repeated over and over, its another to make it part of your election platform!

Ever thought it was a rhetorical quote?......like its just a stones throw to france etc...

Rhetorical or not, does she actually have any experience with dealing with Russia specifically? I didn't follow the news that much so I don't know if it came to light or not, her actual experience with them.

She never actually said she was an expert on Russia....it was a rhetorical quote...just like the 'stones throw' thing...
It's one of those statements the Dems blew up out of proportion as they didn't have a whole lot to attack her on
....a bit like the banning of books story about here.......the list contained Harry Potter.....which at the time had not even been written!
By the way she said 'There is an island in Alaska that you can actually see Russia from....'
Cut and paste:
Russia and Alaska are divided by the Bering Strait, which is about 55 miles at its narrowest point. In the middle of the Bering Strait are two small, sparsely populated islands: Big Diomede, which sits in Russian territory, and Little Diomede, which is part of the United States. At their closest, these two islands are a little less than two and a half miles apart, which means that, on a clear day, you can definitely see one from the other.
My wife laughed about this but I'll say in palins defence it's maybe possible, on a clear day you can see Spain from Africa, but apparently you cannot see Africa from Spain?
I have no idea if this is true but the Spain from Africa is, I've seen footage.
As for the whole Russia Alaska visibility thing, it was obviously going to be taken out of context to make her look dumb. I mean she did prove herself to be less than capable on her own after that, but that sealed the deal with voters who have half a brain
A 'news crew' took McCain's policies and went on the street asking blacks why they were voting for Obama and quoted McCain's policies to them (pretending they were Obamas)...ALL of them agreed with the policies!!

when this 'news crew' took obama's policies and went on the street asking whites why they were voting for mcain and quoted obamas policies to them. did they agree with the policies?
Comments
The democrats will be hoping so.

NO! I don't!!
Are you suggesting you want me to blow you????
Yeah but she won't be a MILF then she'll be a wizened old hag
Er not particularly.
You seem unsure...
Well go on then, but I'm not paying :D
As will the satirists.

Boris/Palin 2012! (In that order)

80% approval rating....pretty much says it all.
And don't forget her foreign relations experience... She can see Russia from there!
Andrew
I still can't believe she said that. Jon Stewart put it best: as Alaska is close to the Arctic Circle, she's also on good terms with Santa.

The landslide was avoidable.

ALL of them being 3 voters from Harlem that were conned by Howerd Stern.
I'm really surprised at you boozey.....your shine still will be one of the first things Obama will be axing!
I'd be concerned if I actually had one :D
