Exile Radio - Midlands

edited November 2008 in Chit chat
I'm into pirate radio and whilst rummaging around the pirate archive site, I spotted something speccy related in the bottom left of this studio photo from Exile Radio which was a pirate in the 90s in the Midlands...

It's probably being used as a jingles tape or something rather than for broadcast of games over the air but interesting in a vague way none the less :D

I had a pair of decks just like those in the pic in 1993. I'm sure one of my mates had that same mixer too. This pic is from 1991 though from the date on the Crash Powertape, and in 91 you were lucky to get much more than a Realistic to play on in some clubs let alone on a pirate station :D

Exile itself was one of the most popular pirates in the West Midlands ever. It's signal even managed to reach Bristol on occasions (this was in the days when FM band 2 wasn't full of bland networked legal stations). Plenty of information and recordings on http://www.thepiratearchive.net/
