I'm not all that bothered by live streaming of TV... I like the iPlayer because it means I can watch programs when I want rather than when they are broadcast, so it seems a bit "meh" to me.
I wish the BBC would put their languages programmes (normally broadcast in the small hours) on the iPlayer...but they say they can't due to "rights issues", when all these programs show (C) BBC and not some other production company!

they're very slowly beating the production companies around to letting them, as they commission new series etc.
I notice now that things like top gear are now available for 50 days rather than a week as they were last series.
as the BBC commission new shows I imagine they put the iplayer bit in the contract there and then.
it's unlikely that existing shows will ever get onto the iplayer, and sadly a lot of the educational programmes are old tapes (if you're talking about the programmes I think you are)
out of interest when do the BBC put their language programs etc on now? I thought they had ditched learning zone and gone back to showing the teletext carousel and music at closedown?

it'll be interesting seeing what tvlicensing do to protect their assets.
in the past it was just a case of shutting down any servers that were streaming the bbc's content, cutting it off at the source.
maybe they could make you type in your tv licence number into the browser before it lets you connect :)
and BT directors tear their hair out as they look at the engineers' computer simulations of the whole network falling over next thursday afternoon.
