Xbox (black one) Speccy Emu Question

edited July 2012 in Emulators
Is there a Xbox (first xbox) emu that supports the use of a USB keyboard? and which would be concidered the 'best' (I know that is subjective).

I am looking for one that is simple yet powerful and that I can plug in a USB keyboard and use for the games that require a lot of keyboard presses (flight sims, adventures etc).

Any ideas suggestions?

    There are four Spectrum emulators for the XBox;

    1. FuseX - this is my favourite, it does almost everything you could wish for. The manual says "...it has USB keyboard support, but it's broken", without saying what that means, if USB keyboard support is nearly perfect, or if it's unusable. I have no USB keyboard to check with, sorry.

    2. Didn'txSpectrum - another great emulator, and maybe the best (it's built from a later version of FUSE, and has more options and stuff) - I don't know if it has USB keyboard support, but it's written by XPort, and I think all of his emulators have USB keyboard support.

    3. Spextrum - a good, but incomplete emulator, I don't know if it uses the USB keyboard.

    4. Can't remember it's name, DSPec, or Dreamspec or something, but it's very basic, so it's extremely unlikely to have USB keyboard support.

I'm sorry I can't give you any real help, but if you go to xbox-scene.com and it's forums then you might find more help there. Of course, if your XBox is already modded, then just download FuseX and Didn'txspectrum, and try them. Finding the XBox programs can be very hard, as they are built with the illegal XDK (XBox Developers Kit, I think, which was stolen from Micro-$oft), but google.com can help you. Or just check your pm list ;-)

Oh, there are pages of text in my post, it's just that most of them are in neurally-activated pixel form, which means that only clever people can see the text.

    So you couldn't, eh?

Thought I would use and old thread :)

I am using FuseX on my XBOX (just installed it) and what a cracking spectrum emulator it is BUT

the sound is about half a second out of sync :(

Anybody know how to fix it (or is it a quirk) :)

That's never happened to me. What games does it do this in, is your XBOX PAL, NTSC or JAP, and do other emulators have the same problem (and if so, do commercial games?).Also, have you tried Didn'tXSpectrum, another XBox Spectrum emulator, to see if it has the same problem?

A: pal , no just Fusex , I used Jetpac , can't get on it as the grandkids are playing super smash bros on the N64 emu (Surreal)...

will test it again and report back :)

DidntXspectrum is fuse based and has a lot more features than the old fusex port.

If you check out www.emuxtras.net its the best place on the net for xbox based emulators they are even in the process of making emuxtras packages which when added to you xbox allow box art browsing and gameplay video playback while browsing you tzx files similar to the coinops arcade type frontends. They are very near to completing the Your Sinclair top 100 mini package. It also contains pre configured controller/hardware settings for each game and synopsis for each game.

Yep thanks for that , I installed Didn'tXspectrum instead and joined up at that site and it runs the sound a lot better :)

It's also a violation of the Fuse team's copyright, because it doesn't adhere to the GPL. Just say no, kids.

    OH NO....

So I am running a Modded Xbox (M$ don't like that)
with an Emulator (that's breaking all the Fuse rule's)
    playing a game I don't own (Starquake)

I feel like one of those CIA hackers that everyone's looking for but there is no way I can be found you would have to know where.....hold on, someone's knocking at the door....."Hello officer...."
