Best multi-player?

edited May 2003 in Games
What do you reckon was the best multi-player game?

Lets keep it to games two or more people could play at the same time and not include turn based games.

Supersprint - Building the cars up to better models was fun.
Battle cars - clunky graphics, sluggish key responses, but great depth of play with 3 different arenas to slug it out in. And the fact there were so many keys added to the battle as you could accidentally jab the opponents fingers at a crucial moment.
Way of the exploding fist
Rampage - 2 players against the computer? Gang up on the computer.

Match Day and Emlyn Hughes' international soccer. That one also has cooperative playing mode, which is awesome IMO.

I remember playing for hours with my brothers and being one of the very few videogames my father played, its SpeedKing2 from mastertronic.

Really cool family times. how pass the time.

Matchday of course. Kick Start 2 and Hypersports (or Hyperblade/Hyperaction or something from Activision in which you play a futuristic ball game) were other two sports games I had fun with. Then there was Ikari Warriors, which was great fun in 2 player mode!

Xenon was also very good at that.

    Silkworm anyone?
Bubble Bobble is always a laugh, and what about Gauntlet?
Wasn't there a problem with the controls in Gauntlet, if someone used keys and the other player used Sinclair Joystick? I think it made the game hilarious to play if I remember rightly.

Did Eric and the Floaters have two player mode? I think Spy vs Spy was pretty good too. I had some trouble figuring out things at first though! :)

How about "IKARI WARRIORS"? like commando but whith a the help of a true pal.

Also "GAUNTLET" ("THIS MEAL IS FOR ME!!!" "OK BUT I GOT THAT TREASURE" (Ha, ha ha)

    Real good times

Target Renegade was excellent two player fun. When all the computer opponents were beaten by cooperating, you just couldn't resist the temptation to beat the other player with that nice little hammer... :)

And I have fond memories of Basket Master, Barbarian, Bubble Bobble, Match Point (especially when you knew how to SMASH!) and IK+.

I'm not sure, was Motos also for two players?

has to be Codemasters Pro BMX simulator 2. (the one with extra tracks like desert etc)

    Hours of competitive fun!

    3DGP was great too!

We always wanted Nigel Mansell's GP to be 2 player - but it never was! So we used to set up both our speccy's in the same room and simultaneously go for lap records. Thing was, one of the Speccy clocks must have run ever so slightly faster as you could always go half a second faster on one of them!

    Memories!

    I reckon it was either:-

Ping Pong - Konami/Imagine (probably the best 48k Menu Music Ever)

    Or BMX Simulator - CodeMasters

Me and my m8 used to spen hours on both of these hudled around a Model 1 Speccy.
    Sausages is more important

Gauntlet, Kickstart 2 and Run the Gauntlet..I think thats what it was called?

My Brother and I also used to pair up on Penetrator, taking turns to control the ship and shoot, or control the bombing.

RAMPAGE! You could go cooperative or mow down the others King-Kong-kung-fu style! I think that was the best multiplayer I played... coin-op arcade left aside, of course.
