    Yep, saw that earlier. A hellava life finally caught up with him.

    Time to dig out Solid Air...

    I saw him in concert a few years back. He slurred a lot of the songs and was so pissed the stagehand had to hang the guitar round his neck and move his hands on to the guitar.

    A cousin claimed that was a good JM concert.

    I saw him at Cropredy Folk Festival, I think it was 2004. He wasn't quite so bad that a roadie had to move his hands on the guitar but he was well oiled and I have to say he was bloody tedious though, just not my thing. Then he was followed by Jethro Tull whom I was really looking forward to, and a) they were bloody tedious as well (everyone was looking forward to a rocking set and they played nearly all acoustic material with Locomotive Breath and Aqualung tagged on to the end.) And Ian Anderson's voice was totally shot. Anyway, to get back on topic, I'm sorry John Martyn has died but he really wasn't my cup of tea, even if I like folk music.
    cheers

    RIP John Martyn :-(

    Along those lines, and yet not quite, Billy Powell of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame also died today.

    I'm sorry that he is gone, but I'm also sorry that he pissed his life away.

    I remember foing to see him in about 85 and he was an hour late taking to the stage as they had problems getting him upright.

    <SIGH>

    hmmmmm cant be many of them left now?
    there was tons more members than the jimi hendrix experience and ramones but they almost caught those up in the most dead band members stakes

    I don't know his music very well. Think I'll check it out soon. Found out today that he lived in Kilkenny for the last ten years.
